GPS Recommendations for Trailering

I am thinking about transitioning to traveling around the US up to 80% of the year. I plan on getting a fifth wheel trailer and a new truck to pull it. I want to be comfortable but also would like to be able to camp in most National Parks and other public places.

My question is what GPS would you recommend that includes routing information that covers height and turning considerations? I plan on minimizing my use of the Interstates in order to take in small towns and out of the way places.

I have had a Garmin for a long time but if another brand outshines any Garmin offering I would not be adverse to change.

Trailering GPS

25 years ago I was pulling a 12'5" Fifth Wheel all over the country. I would have given arm and a leg to have the GPS stuff available now. I just went on the Garmin site and found this. A trucking GPS that fills the bill. 6" delzCam LMTHD with all the goodies.. narrow roads and height restrictions for all major roads in the US. Not cheap, but could easily pay for itself quickly.

No GPS is perfect...

but traveling roads and places you don't drive all the time I would strongly suggest a Garmin Dezl as well if pulling a trailer/5th wheel. They are a little pricey but worth it IMO. You can get factory refurbs on Amazon, Ebay and other sites and most come with a 1 year warranty.

RV 770

I often pull a 28" trailer with my pickup. I owned a Dezl 760 briefly which worked well but lacked features specific to RV's. I sold it and have been using a RV760 for the last 3 years. It has a database which is specifically geared to RV travel. IMO, it is a bit better than the Dezl.

I'm spending your money here but I would recommend the newer RV770:

I also highly recommend Garmin's BC30 wireless backup camera:

I have two of them, one mounted on the rear of my pickup and the other on the rear of the trailer. The RV770 switches between the cameras giving you a clear view of what is behind you and makes hookups a breeze.

I would recommend the RV 770

I would recommend the RV 770 also. I've used the older Dezl models and the RV770.

dimensions of the rig must be entered

Whatever GPS you are considering, make sure you can enter the dimensions of your rig, the height, width, and length. This might mean a trucker's GPS.
