Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – August 2017

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

A Pleasant Ride

From Eastern Shore MD to Longwood Garden in PA. A couple of hours each way. Very peaceful, sunny, drive. Excellent time touring the Garden. Been there a number of times before, but it never is quite the same. The drive home even included a covered bridge.

So Many Roads.....

Acadia National Park

Flawless navigation from the 2595 from the Boston area to Acadia and back. Took us right to the driveway of campground despite all of the "tacky tourist detours" we made along the route. I'm glad it doesn't say: "recalculating" anymore! Also got us -back- to the campground after nightfall from the far reaches of the park at the opposite side of the park.

Heading to the Everglades...

Leaving from Orlando this morning for a three-day ride down the west coast of Florida, across the Tamiami Trail through the Everglades, and over to the Ft Lauderdale / Miami area, then up the Atlantic coast along Route 1 & A1A. We did this ride about 11 years ago and had a blast ... It will be interesting to see how things have changed.

Eclipse trip

Took my daughter up to a little place named Orin, WY. Total trip time up there was pretty much what Garmin said, 330 Miles/5 hours. Set up camp less than 4 miles north of the centerline path of totality on Sunday.

Woke up overnight to the darkest skies I haven't seen since my days stationed in the Azores. A galaxy full of suns and you could see the Milky Way easily. Morning skies were clear and not much haze.

As for describing 2 minutes and 24 seconds of totality, there are no words and pictures/video to convey the experience. You have to see it to understand.

Took 14 hours to get home. Was it worth it? You bet'cha!
