DriveSmart 50LMT

Just got one of these units for Christmas; anyone else out there have any experience with one?

I have a variation of the DriveSmart 50LMT

I bought a DriveSmart 50LMTHD a few weeks ago to replace my 2597LMT (wife now uses the 2597LMT).

1. Seems to work well; however had one incident where I changed my driving route and the GPS didn't re-calculate to the new route. Hopefully a one-time glitch. All other times, recalculation is quick.
2. Has better Smartlink integration. I had some minor difficulties with the iPhone Smartlink app in terms of syncing; finally figured out the nuances (slightly different from the 2597LMT). Smartlink transfers my text messages from my phone to the GPS where I can read it or play (text to speech).
3. Like you, I am in Ottawa, so I haven't been able to see how HD Traffic works and compare it against the the Live Traffic subscription I had with my iPhone app.
4. The "Where I am?" option is missing from the menus, but it's available by tapping the vehicle on the display/view map.
5. I have over 130,000 custom POIs loaded - most of the files came from here smile and it handles it well (unlike my old 1490T which struggled with that many POIs).

I found out about it from a member here who indicated it was on sale at costco.com (had it shipped to Oldenburg, NY and drove over to pick it up). With a 90 day return policy, I can try it a while longer, but overall I'm happy with the unit.

Drivesmart 50LMT

They have one on the Airmiles website for 3400 AM. I think I'm going to redeem for one before they de-valuate the points.

What is Airmiles website

Would love to look at that. I have AA miles. Does it use that?

Air Miles

Air Miles site: www.airmiles.ca Unfortunately, you can't use AA miles.

On another note... Airmiles has been jerking around their customers this year... initially telling customers that their points were expiring in Dec. Then circa the beginning of Dec. they backed off, but most people redeemed their points on items they didn't need; no returns or refunds. They probably reversed themselves, not because of caring for their customers, but most likely because of new Ontario provincial law that rewards points cannot expire.

I agree with Jackrabbit000... best redeem the points before they de-value the points (a rumour). Air Miles has already been accused of showing items at a certain point plateau, but once you reach that plateau, the item no longer shows up in a search.

Thanks

Airmiles.ca

You can't see anything unless you login to an account. You can use this number that someone made up:

85001231238

I redeemed for the Garmin Drivesmart 50LMT the other day.

DVD_Guy, they (LoyaltyOne) already came out and said that they are going to recover the $220M USD loss from cancelling the Airmiles expiry date. It's just a matter of when they are going to implement it. Burn't up 34,000 AM because of the expiry they had in place. Pi**ed me off now that they cancelled it, wasted 23 years of saving them. Now I have 7 items that I redeemed for sitting in my living room, all unopened.

Thanks
