Does the NuviCam support mp3 audio alerts?

I did find this page if it doesn't

Alerts Garmin | How Do I Get Voice Alerts Using Wav Files For Units Without Mp3 Capability?

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730

No

The nuvicam specs don't list mp3 capability and this ability was dropped from all Garmin On The Road devices quite some time ago so I really doubt the nuvicam offers it.

So for custom audio alerts, you will need wav files, and if you use a PC rather than a Mac, you will need sox.exe on your PC as described in the FAQ.

Thank you so much. I'll let

Thank you so much. I'll let you guys know if I'm successful.

No problems converting my

No problems converting my .mp3 files to .wav using the suggested on line converter. I even played the .wav files on my pc.

Removed the custom POI's from my NuviCam. Rebooted the Garmin. Installed the POI's now with .wav files and I placed sox in the POI Installer folder just as instructed.

Approval for Sox to run even pops up during the install process.

It WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much

Kudos

Thanks so much

Kudos to charlesd45.

of course on a PC

you can also install the Audacity freeware product and the associated MP3 player / writer that goes along with it and load the MP3 file and export it as a WAV

really easy and you can do lots of things with Audacity...

Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

The last (or almost last) Nuvi products that supported mp3 were the 800 series. I think Garmin didn't want to pay licensing fees.

Not work for me

I try and follow a link http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730 but don't succeed

My step :
1.Create .gpx files from Basecamp (Latest Version) to My POI folder

2.In the My POI folder have Test.gpx, Test.bmp, Test.wav files
(.wav : 44100Hz 16bit mono)

3.Use the POI Loader (Latest Version) with sox.exe V14.0.1 convert to .gpi file
(manual mode and set alert distance 400m.)

My Nuvicam when approaching the location has been beep beep sound and Test.bmp show on display only. but Test.wav not work

If you are using a PC. Did you put sox.exe in the correct location per the FAQ? If you have a Mac no sox.exe needed.

This is the video version for PC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsJTUmvb6_o
