Smartphone Link app

Does the Garmin Smartphone Link app work with Google Maps.

I simply want to use google maps to quickly find a location and have that location sent to a Smartphone Link compatible Garmin. Either via address or Lon/Lat cords.

I searched and there seems to be a history of this capability being available and unavailable. Where are we now, with Smartphone Link V. 2.2.2xxx?

If I can do this I may upgrade to a newer Garmin DriveSmart unit.

Smartlink uses it's own

Smartlink uses it's own internal map supplied by Here. Here is also it's search engine.

I loaded the app on my phone

I loaded the app on my phone and am using it.

I can search easily near my current location, is there a way to do a search centered around another location within the app.

Bought a Drivesmart 50 and was testing the connection/interaction out. It does obtain data from Gasbuddy, but the data are not usable. Google maps does not deliver any data. The search/lookup function within the Garmin app does not perform as well as I hoped, so this is going back to the store. Nothing new justifies a new GPS for me, the screen touch responsiveness is very nice, but that is not enough to get a new unit.
