FAVORITES/Saved Places

Are your Saved Places new to the 50 or did you transfer them from one of your older units.

If you transferred them from another GPS you would have needed to copy the current.gpx file from the old Nuvi to your computer, rename the transferred file from current.gpx to some other name but maintain the gpx extension (temp.gpx for example), and copy the renamed file to the GPX folder on the 50.

If you transferred your favorites/saved places that way you should then see a list of them via Where To - Saved - All Saved Places. I can't think of any setting that would cause the Saved items to display or not to display in a listing.

Or I suppose you could use Garmin Express but I find the above method to be pretty bullet proof.

What your issue is. However if you're not seeing category lists note that they only show when you've reached a certain number of favourites, on most devices 12 is the magic number.

The list of Saved Place.etc will show if the unit is plug in the car. It will show the list. Current.gpx is in the unit.

... That's not quite accurate. You can view favourites whether your GPS is plugged into the car or not.

That is the problem that I am having. I am not seeing the saved places list. Any Suggestion.

You could confirm exactly what is happening as I'm now confused. Are you saying that favourites/saved places show when plugged into power in the car but not when running off the battery?

Can you confirm that you do have saved places on your device and method use to install them. If you touch where to then saved places they should show up.If indeed you do have favorites(saved places).Make sure to review this FAQ http://pages.citebite.com/o5b3k0j8u1ikw

I have done everything that was suggested. Will reboot the gps help. That is the only thing left to do.

When I do a Go To it shows me a Search Screen. When I put a name in the Search Area, It will give me a Route Screen.

... If you do a Where to you should see numerous options, eg Address or Categories or Favourites etc. What do you see?

There is also a search box but you don't have to use that, indeed you shouldn't if you want to find a favourite.

I suggest you download and read the full manual.

How or where did you load the saved places your looking for? Using Basecamp or some other software? Where did the saved places list come from? A prior Garmin GPS?

On many of the newer devices, Favo(u)rites has changed to Saved. I don't know what icon and text are associated with finding them with the new Drive models.

Good point. I'd assumed it was a nuvi 50, OP didn't mention he had the Drive model

Here are two screen shots. This is how it shows on my Nuvi 2597. The drive units should be about the same. First screen shot touch Where to. Just been checking. When you tap Where to you get a screen similar to the nuvi models. Favourites/saved places have a heart icon and are called Saved.

Wonder why the OP isn't seeing that?

Not sure.They always put a location for Garmin on the device. Once he does a saved location per the FAQ .Then if saved is not found. We will have something to go on.

rthibodaux make sure you do shut the unit completely down after adding a saved place or places. These newer units, just pushing the power button down only puts the device to sleep .Hold power button down until you see screen to power off.

You still have to let us know how your new Drive 50LMTHD's Favorites were installed in case this makes a difference.

You have checked for and tapped the 'heart' Saved after the WhereTo screen, right? It could be as simple as this.

Craig, I think you just pointed out to me how to get rid of that damned Heart Icon on the screen. There are two ways to get a location in Saved. Manually search and then Save it. This puts a Heart Icon on it. The second way is to load them from Base Camp. I'm wondering if that will get rid of the Heart Icon. I know I'm hijacking a thread, sorry. I started a thread about this couple months ago, but got no resolution.

Ok, here we go. I have the Where To screen.Touch Where to. Next Screen has Go Home,Address, Saved, Recent,Categories. Touch All Saved Places,The Screen is a Map Screen with Enter Search at the top.I hope this will help. The GPS is a 60LMTH Drive Smart.

What happens when you touch Saved then all saved places last?

All you should need to do in order to see your Saved Places (Favorites) is to tap WHERE TO and then on the NEXT SCREEN tap SAVED and then on the NEXT SCREEN tap ALL SAVED PLACES.

If you do this and DON'T SEE a list of your Favorites then they are not on the device, or not on the device in the proper place.

Let us know what you see when you tap:

WHERE TO and then tap
SAVED and then tap
ALL SAVED PLACES

If I'm reading this correctly, he did that and got a map screen. He should have either gotten a list of Saved Places, or a pop-up saying no data. I've never seen a map screen when selecting Saved or Recent.

He needs to turn on the screen shot feature and take a photo of each step above. he can post them at Flikr or some site like that. Something doesn't seem right.

You could be right but I was the first to reply to this thread and when I reviewed it again today I don't see where he ever confirmed those exact steps. I may have missed it or interpreted what was written to mean something other than I thought it did however. I agree with you that if he did follow those steps I can't imagine how a map screen appeared which is why I detailed the required steps as I'm assuming those were never taken or not taken correctly.

I agree with every one that when I tap Saved I should get a list of all my Saved addresses. It seems that there is a step missing in the GPS.Garmin will call me tomorrow on this problem. If they can't fix it, I will return the GPS back to Costco.

Should have made myself more clearly. When I use the Voice Command and the View List is there. Tap on View List and all my Saved Places are there.

I don't know what happen, but all my saved places are back on.

Maybe with all the things you tried one of them finally paid off. Good luck on your new device.Since your unit is pretty new.If you get a chance report back on what you think about it.

The only other thing that I can think of is I let the battery have a full charge.

The one thing that I like about the 60LMTHD is the turn by turn voice, can't miss a turn with that. I will be going on vacation in a couple of weeks and will be stopping in Houston on my way back from Louisiana. Will report on the pros and con.

Sounds more like you turned the device completely off instead of just tapping the power button for a second which puts it into "sleep" mode. The Saved Places wouldn't have appeared without a full reboot of the device which would have only happened if it was completely turned off (press the power button for a few seconds and confirm you want to turn it off) and then back on.

No matter what the cause, glad you got the 50 working properly.

Well, guess what? It happen again this morning. I lost my Saved Places again. I talked with Garmin this morning.They told me to
do a Master Reset. Well it worked, all my Saved Places showed up.If it happens again to return the GPS back to Costco.

This is such an exciting thread, and I am only reading it!
