GPS 60LMTHD

I am thinking about buying a new GPS. I am leaning toward the 60LMTHD. Costco has it for 269.99. What are the pro and cons on this GPS.

If you have (or want or plan to have) a smartphone, the traffic available to the Garmin via the Smartphone Link App may be much better than what's offered by the HD traffic. If so, maybe you could save some cash by just getting the Drivesmart 60 LMT rather than the LMTHD.

It wasn't so long ago you were so unsure that the smartphone traffic would be of any use up in the boonies of AZ.

The newer GPS offers some new features that look good in print but have not seen much fed back on actual use . Quote from Garmin site."Helpful Driver Alerts for Your Daily Commute
Garmin Drive 60 GPS navigator provides driver alerts to encourage safer driving and increase situational awareness. Warnings include alerts for sharp curves, speed changes, railroad crossings and animal crossings. Additionally, Garmin Drive 60 notifies you when driving the wrong way on a one-way street and sends warnings for nearby school zones. Receive alerts for nearby red light and speed cameras3, and be prepared for sudden halts in traffic with upcoming traffic jam alerts. For longer drives, a fatigue warning4 suggests break times and potential rest areas after hours of driving. The Up Ahead feature lets you easily see places up ahead and milestones along your route, without leaving the map view" . That alert for driving the wrong way sure would be nice for some of the drivers in one state that seem to be a regular occurrence.

DriveSmart 60 LMT

I just purchased a 60 LMT, and am very impressed with it. All of the features mentioned above, plus it has a much brighter display, as well as better volume. The voice command is sometimes hit or miss, works about 60-70 % of the time. I have yet to load the latest map. You can change the wake up command to anything. Have not seen the traffic in action, so I can't comment. Going to Indiana in a couple of weeks, so maybe I can comment further.
