3790 Freezing, then Going Black

My faithful Nuvi 3790 has started freezing, and often when trying to get it to unfreeze will suddenly go black (as if turned off).

It can be extremely difficult to get back, but sometimes if I double-click the on/off button the unit will go to the screen that instructs me to click twice to unlock the unit, and then it will operate normally until the next freeze-up.

Is there a way to do a "Reset" on this unit, or is it trying to tell me it's dying?

.

To do a complete reset, I believe you touch the upper right hand corner of the screen for about 30 seconds. You'll be prompted to erase all data. Back up your faves first.

Have done it on my 3790 3 times. It does clear the crap from the unit.

Before you do a reset, which

Before you do a reset, which erases your data, Hold the off button until it prompts you to turn off. The estate and see how it does. If that doesn't help, then you can do a reset, but back your data up first.

Also

I had that once with my 3790 also. No idea why either. It happened right after an update for me. All i did was reload the prior version and let Garmin software update me again and all has worked fine since then.

Not Good

Its happened a couple of times now where it won't calculate the route, just sits there at 0%. I have to wait about 20 seconds or more and it will either give me the route or it will bounce me into the Map Screen. Rebooting doesn't help. It buzzes on reboot but so far it goes away when its finished booting. Summer time and the sun will pound on my little unit again, with adverse effects. At this stage its not a pain yet, but its a sign.
I will buy this unit again if the old gets worse. In my opinion everything that has gone wrong with this unit is all due to me leaving it on the dash with the Sun pounding on it.
