NUVI 2595 - Custom Points - Existing Route

I have been loading my custom points into my Nuvi 2595 since I first owned it and I was able to import any of these points into a route.

However, now I can load these points into the nuvi using POI Loader. These files appear in the Categories -Custom PIOs, and can be accessed for the information (map and address for each). However the "Go" is greyed out and will not add any of these custom points to the active route. But these points can be accessed to create a new route.

The route was created in Basecamp and imported into the nuvi device.

Is the creation of the route in Basecamp causing the problem of not being able to add the custom poi's to it.

@macleadv

How many "Custom POI" points would you like to add? Why were they not part of the original route? Why not create the "route" on the nuvi itself?

I think you created this "route" in Basecamp, exported it to the nuvi, and are now trying to add "Custom POIs" from the nuvi to the route that you created in Basecamp. Is that right?

I am not sure you can do this.

Yes you can

@Macleadv

I'm not sure why you can't add custom POIs. I have no issue adding them to routes created in BC and then sent to my nuvi.

My guess...

is that you have inadvertently turned your custom POI's into a speed alert type of POI, probably by including a number in your file name (eg: Attractions50.csv). Speed camera alerts have the Go button greyed out. There may be some other types of POI's that have this same behavior, but I know speed camera alerts do.

Bingo

Bingo, I bet that's it, a numeral in the file name:

NUVI 2595 - Custom Points - Existing Route

In Basecamp I created a route with a start point, end point and a few shaping points to get the route to follow certain roads. The Custom PIO file contained motels along the route.
The route was imported into the nuvi using Basecamp, while the custom poi's used PIO Loader to import the data.

My intent was that after a certain number of hours driving I would choose a motel from the Custom PIO file for my overnight rest period and add it to the route.

However, the data from the Custom PIO file could not be inserted in the route.

However, I discovered that the motels in the Nuvi-Categories -Hotel and Motel file could be inserted in the route. But the nuvi data did not contain all the motels I wanted to consider using.

I find this hard to figure as the file names do not contain numbers, and this maybe a conflict between Basecamp and PIO Loader.

No.

There is no conflict between BaseCamp and POI Loader. Something else is going on. What are the names of the source files (the .CSV and/or .GPX files) that you are loading with POI Loader?

The file being loaded with POI Loader has a CSV file extension

Guys

Thank you all for your responses to my post.

After many attempts of creating routes in basecamp and importing them into my nuvi,I discovered that My Guess maybe correct in his diagnosis to my problem.

My only conclusion to my problem is that my Custom PIO folder was named Mote1 instead of my intended name Motel.
The first Mote"1" ls the number 1, were the second Mote"l" ls the letter l. Since with the renamed file named,the route and poi are working now, so this is going to be my belief.

Maybe somebody should invent new keyboard symbols for seniors.

Thanks again

Good find
