Drawing a Blank on Icons

I'm drawing a blank here. I just a Nuvi 770 and it has those hideous large green Heart icons for Favorites on the map. Annoying. I have Nuvi 760 and a Nuvi 2597 and neither one has those icons. I found the spot to Edit and change the map symbol, but the only choices are more hideous green ones.
These favorites are not loaded from Basecamp, as I try to keep these favorites separate from the 2597 as one is for personal use and the other is for my Charter Bus.
Am I going to have to download to BaseCamp and change the Icon there, or what? I hate getting old, the CRS is running rampant here, lately. Thanks for any help here.

Afraid they are what they are as the nuvis don't support custom symbols.

Don't really want custom. Just don't want the Big Icons to show, and for the life of me, I can't figure out what is different between the three Nuvis I have, and how to turn off the icons on the screen.

The 770. They don't show on the other two. I can't remember how I got them to stop showing. The large green icons is the default for Favorites on new units.

The 770 is the same model series as the 760, It should have the exact same software as your 760. I can't imagine how the newer Garmin icons (the large ugly green ones) would show on that device. Are you sure it is not your 2597 that is showing the ugly icons?

Try Settings - Map & Vehicles - Map Layers - Places along the way. Unchecking the Box for that entry will turn off the large green icons. The problem is that this probably will also turn off the icons for your Custom POIs. If I recall it's either everything or nothing when it comes to POI icon display.
But I agree with alandb that it should be the newer Nuvi that has the big ugly icons and not the 770, unless it's the RV770 or Dezl770 .

The 770 is the same model series as the 760, It should have the exact same software as your 760. I can't imagine how the newer Garmin icons (the large ugly green ones) would show on that device.
My guess is that the big green icons are appearing on a RV770 or Dezl770 and not the quite old nuvi 770. Garmin really messed up by repeating #770 for an ancient nuvi and newer specialty models.
I admit I was also shocked and disappointed with the big green icons on my nuvi 3597. Phranc, you can turn off the layer with POIs (built in, Favorites and Custom greenies) but then there will be no POI icons at all. I do also miss the more colorful and numerous Favorite icons on the earlier models.

I didn't check when I mentioned the RV and Dezl 770. It may well be that one of them doesn't exist. If so, then phranc has the other one, the one that does exist.

Yes, it's the Dezl 770. My bad. I just got it because the Dezl 760 won't support Smart Link from a iPhone.
My newest one is the Dezl 770. I've had the 2597 for a couple of years now.

I'm cool with the No Icons at all. I usually already know where I'm going and where I'm stopping, I don't need the ugly visual notifications.

Did that. That's one of the first things I turn off on a new unit. The Icons are still there. The Heart one.

Yes, I have the POI's turned off. But that doesn't turn off the Favorites icon. I may have to just transfer the Favorites file from the Dezl 760 to the Dezl 770 via BaseCamp.
