Time Zone update

When I connected my 3597 to GE this morning it had an update for me. This is for Time Zone version 17. I have no idea what other models may be included in the update nor what it changes.

Thanks. Time to check my 2460 and 3597.

Since the other updates all have pretty much the same changelog, I guess we can assume this latest update does as well:

Updated timezone database

Yes indeed.

Thinking about it, revisions should only be needed for geographical corrections to the TZ borders or for changing dates of starting and ending DST.

Given the frequency of updates, I assume that the TZ map is like the Garmin Basemap and is a global map and not just a North America map.

Thanks

Available for Nuvi 3590, 755, and 765 as well.

Thanks

Will look for it. Thanks!

Both units got it

Both the 775T, and the 3790.

Now, we just need to get rid of the DST... wink

Yes indeed. I expect t92 nailed it with his earlier answer in this thread regarding all the missing versions.

For folks reporting GPS models using the update: I expect that all models with automatic time zone corrections will want this update. Older models without automatic time setting (e.g., my nuvi 750) will not need it or be able to use it.

Need it here

Nuvi 2797 and 265W show update required

Yes, but let's STAY on DST. I'm not interested in having the sun come up at 5 am. And I am not happy about coming home in the dark during the winter.

Thanks! 2689LMT updated!

Thanks

for the info!

Being in Arizona

Wish they would do away with DST, not needed, time does not change, lol

Yep

Thanks

Did not bother.

Other than letting Viago apply the update on my Samsung tablet, I did not bother with this update as I don't plan on traveling in Haiti or Siberia or any of the few other places that recently changed their time zone or DST rules. smile I will wait and let Express put the update on my nuvis the next time there is a map update.

The 1450 is current now.

Took slightly longer than the minute predicted, but no problems.

I hate to think of the state of my NUVI without the info from the POI Factory.

I can only assume

that Congress has messed around with DST yet again, necessitating these time one changes.

Garmin Drive 61, nuvi 2597MT, too many really.

thanks for the heads up

I'll check my 2460

DST

ToucanSam wrote:

The US congress legislated the start and stop dates for DST, last changed in 2007. The individual states have control on whether to participate or not for the whole state or regions within the state. If they do participate, they must follow the legislated start and stop dates. As far as time zone boundaries, that is regulated by the federal DOT as are the DST rules.

I suspect most of the changes in the new Garmin Time Zone file are for parts of the world other than the US.

But in Arizona, several (but not all) Indian Reservations do switch to DST while the state itself does not.

What a mess...

Several? I only know of the Navajo Nation. But then with most of its 27,425 square miles being in AZ, a good chunk of the state does observe DST.

The Hopi Nation does not observe DST even though it's inside the Navajo Nation. I never checked to see about the other Reservations throughout the state and assumed they followed the state's choice of not switching to DST.

Right
