Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – January 2016

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

LOUISIANA

Just return from a trip to Louisiana to visit the Indians. Left a little bit of money there. My wife did real good on the penny slot, but I didn't do good on the blackjack or dice table. Maybe better luck next time.

same ole

routine, different day, luv my 3597, working perfectly so far! well except I can't figure out converting the MP3 to Wav yet, thought I had it, but it didn't work..

Daily for work

I still use it everyday finding locations throughout western PA and WV for work. I use my nuvi 1450 in the car over the nuvi 765 or zumo 665 because of the larger screen.

Audacity

Audacity works for me. I haven't used it in a couple years since I'm not adding new sounds. The best was the ATT test site which allowed you to build WAV sound files using their voices. The site has been shut down now for about a year but I did build several POI announcement files I use.

Audacity does have a bit of a learning curve, it is a very powerful program but there are several messages in threads archived here talking about what is required to build a successful WAV file from an MP3.

I have yet to drive this year... Yeah, tomorrow I have some errands to run. Didn't drive the last few days of last week, either. Nice. My car did go out a couple of times as my son needed to make a couple of trips to the auto parts store (but got both his vehicles running).

I feel a trip down to Los Angeles coming up in a couple of weeks...

How when we're kids, we want to drive all the time. When we're adults, we don't want to drive. Even my nice car, it makes me feel good to know it sat in the garage and didn't go anywhere, and is clean (except for dust). My buddies argue it's worse for the car than if you drove it daily (they are likely to be correct).

L.A. Ventura area

Used it in the rental car to visit and say goodbye my uncle who's now under hospice care.
Camera file came in super handy. Los Angeles the city, does not have a camera program, but the county does, as well as cameras enforced by the MTA (which still seems odd to me). Ventura had quite a few for as small of community it seems to be.
Wish I had been visiting for a different reason, but happy my work there seems to be accurate.
