Flickering display on my 2689...

 

I just got my new to me, refurbished 2689LMT from GPS City,
and the screen flickers randomly...

My previous ones were rock steady...

Should I request an RMA for a return?

It not aweful, but it is distracting while driving...

Return It

If I were you I'd return it while you can, this is not normal behavior. It's quite possible the LCD ribbon cable is not making good contact to the main board and you are experiencing intermittent flickers. GPS City is a reliable company and ask them to replace it.

I agree with muell9k. Definitely return it! The problem will likely get worse with time.

In the past, GPS City has shipped a replacement first and allowed me to return the defective unit afterward. Its been a while though so I don't know if they still have that policy.

I wouldn't wait to return it since the stock of these refurbished units is often limited.

They did offer a discount on the camera...

But no not yet installed. I was however going to try to do that while the swap back happens...

I would like to play with it to see if I really want to keep it or not.

I really like the GPS,, but dont currently have a cam system of the car. So...

BC Backup Camera System ?

I just now saw your other post indicating you also have the BC 30 camera system. Just wondering if this is causing the problem. Have you tried disconnecting the camera from the Nuvi and see if the flickering problem is corrected. If it corrects the problem then is a conflict with the camera system and not the Nuvi.
Perform the test before returning the Nuvi.
Never had one (Camera System) so I'm unable to give any remedy suggestion.

Edited: While typing I see you made a post stating the camera system was not installed yet, so I suggest you return the Nuvi
