If your referring to the categories that your favorites/saved places are stored in, you can indeed change which one they are stored in.

On the Nuvi select Where To - Saved - and find the Favorite/Saved item from the category it's currently in or from the All Saved Places section. With the Saved place selected, tap the (i) icon between the Routes and Go items in the selection bar. In the upper left corner of the selection/map screen that will appear, tap the 3 bar icon and then select Edit.

The Edit Saved Place menu will appear. Select Categories from the menu and you will be able to first delete the current category the item is stored in (or leave it in that category if you want), select a new category from the list that appears across the upper part of the screen, or type in the name of a current category you want to use or create a new one using the provided keyboard.

Note that these procedures assume the keying sequence for the Nuvi 50 is the same as for other newer Nuvi models.

Yes, the Category means the Categories in my Favorite.

I think my NU50LM is an old model and doesn't have the right selection. Is there any way that can change it from computer?

Page 11 of your user manual indicates this can be done on the 50.

Good information. Have not changed catagories but may want to do it in the future.

For the 3 units showing on your account they all will allow for you to add a category. This feature has been out for a while.My Garmin Nuvi 265 had the feature.Sometimes around that time frame was when Garmin introduced the category attribute. It comes in handy to me to placed some of my saved places into a category for fast retrieval. See FAQ http://www.poi-factory.com/node/40052

I guess they only have add category and they don't have delete and Edit category name option

Editing Favorites:
Select Where to? > Favorites
If necessary, select a category
Select a Favorite
Select the Information Balloon
Select Edit > Change Categories
Select a Category and select New

Note Categories will appear in the Favorites menu after you have saved 12 Favorites

For your model you have the option to change the name, map symbol, phone number, and category.
