2016.20 JCV

Someone had posted that they got the large JCV file. I wonder how?

To my 855 the 24,*** kb file was supplied.
For my 2797 I got the 494,*** kb file.

Two thoughts

I installed 2016.20 on my 1390. There is no JCV file, but I get 7 junction views on a test route. My old 2012 JCV file is gone too.

I copied the small 26MB D3153190A.JCV file to my nuvi and then the large 492MB D3191180A.JCV file.

Neither made any change in the number of junction views or the quality of the image.

1) If you're getting Junction Views with the 2016.20 map, then you have a jcv file installed intended for the 2016.20 map. The D3153190A.JCV file is the one your 1390 would have automatically received with the 2016.20 map update.

2) A 492MB JCV file is a split-screen JV file and not the "large" JCV file. Split screen JCV files won't work on a nuvi 1390. If you want the "large" JCV file, it will be over 800MB and is offered on a file-sharing site as reported by our Strephon. On the 1390, this large 800+ MB JCV will work if installed to the proper folder as long as the the smaller file is disabled or deleted. On occasion, the nuvi will need to be rebooted for the large jcv file to be found and used.

I put them in

\Garmin\JCV on SD card.

Same place the 2012.10 JCV file was.

I guess I'll delete the JCV files I copied

and stick with the one that was obviously installed by GE. Must be hidden. I can't find it.

Got to be there.

Since you are seeing some junction views, the file has to be there somewhere. Let us know if you ever finde it smile

You're ready, then

Good work. You're set now. If you want the large JCV file, you can download it, install it to a SD card, disable or delete the existing small file on the nuvi, then have more JVs and better visual quality JVs on your 1390.

The link to find the large 800+ MB JCV file download is on page 1 of this thread in the reply by Strephon_Alkhalikoi.

Repost of Nuvi 1450 experience

...installed 2016.20 on my Nuvi 1450 using MapUpdater. I have an SD card installed on the unit. As in the past, the map itself was the only thing that got installed on the SD card, everything else got installed on the unit. The JCV file was the small one - 24,xxx kb. From Strephon_Alkhalikoi's post I downloaded the large JCV: Part 1, Part 2, and WinRAR but didn't install it right away. I did run WinRAR and it created the large D3060190A file at 838,227 kb.

I tested the unit with the small JCV and sure enough, all of the local JCV's were gone. I then renamed the small JCV file and installed the large one and sure enough the JCV's were back.
Note that the large JCV file is D3060190A.

Thanks for the full JCV

Thanks for the full JCV file. I have the full North America maps with plenty of room left but I only get the smaller version for some reason. Perhaps as I think is being speculated Garmin is no longer including it with the download. (3590)

Just to be clear

Your nuvi 750 doesn't get or use a JCV file. Your nuvi 765 by default gets the large JCV file during each map update. If you have a nuvi 3590, you are already getting the proper split-screen JCV file. If you switch to the large JCV file with a nuvi 3590, you will get a short-duration full-screen Junction View which most users find less desirable than what Garmin offers with each map update. Are you sure that you want to see full screen JVs with a 3590?

If you do ever want the large JCV file for a nuvi, you won't need to manually download it from the web. Your nuvi 765 receives the large JCV with each map update so it can be copied to a device that doesn't receive it.

FWIW

FWIW:

Nuvi 2460

CN North America NT
2017.10 ALL
trafficTrends North America 4.25

I like the half screen JV. I would only switch to the large JCV file if it had significantly more JV locations than the default file above.

But it seems that to date, modern science cannot answer that question. So I'll leave it at the default for now.

.

I get get the full screen jcv with my 775, but haven't bothered putting it on my 3790 for ages. Meh.

It appears that the D3060190A,JCV file is no longer available on Mega. Could someone direct me to an active download link or otherwise make this file available to me. Thanking you in advance.

Correct, the 2016.20 JCV file is gone. Our member who offers the JCV file download (and yes, we've gotten Garmin's permission to offer generic files like the JCV file) only offers the most current file, currently 2017.20:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/46141

Remember that the JCV file is revised with each map update and one must use the JCV file made for the map version you have, hopefully 2017.20. If your Garmin device's current map is 2016.20, you're too late to download the JCV file from that web site.

PS: lewc, could you update your account and tell us what model GPS use? That could help folks trying to advise you in the future:

Thanks. I don't use my Garmin much. I just updated my maps. I got .20, forgot the map was 2017 not 2016.
