Strange Behavior

I'm stopped at a stoplight about 8 blocks north of where I live when my GPS position jumps 0.20 miles almost due West. This position offset persisted the full 20mi to work. I'll see what happens when I go home.

Which model do you have? I've seen similar with my 855. Resetting the GPS brought everything back to normal again. I'm not sure what caused the glitch.

for the first time

in more than probably a year, the 2350LMT acted up, it would calculate to 99%, then freeze. rebooted by yanking the adapter, it shut off, turned it back on, and the same.

I am taking a wild guess, since all the time I was moving...maybe it did not like the area I was in, and froze up? It was the NYC metro area so pretty rural, and things like this can happen....

Similar Issue

The same thing occurred with my Montana 650t on 9/23 around 2:30 PM. I was standing still while navigating a route and the mileage log jumped .2 miles. Never saw that happen before.

It occurred using my nuvi 3597. I also had a few glitches with my nuvi 855, but only for a few blocks, not 20 mi. Seems to work OK now.

I've had this happen on my 2460, however it's normally when I'm in the city surrounded by tall buildings or in a long underpass. I use the 2460 at work, I drive for a living and often pass the same points, it's interesting seeing the bread crumbs go all over the place in certain areas.

Which Model Has The Issue?

Your profile lists you owning 3 models, C330, nuvi855, nuvi3597.
Please advise which model you are having the problem with.

My initial thought was you were experiencing poor satellite reception as others mentioned' however, you stated his happened about 8 blocks north of where you live. Your profile indicated you live in University Park Maryland, that is a small community with a population of 2,613 which I would imagine it's rural and have no obstructions. That should rule out it being interference.

Is it possible you updated the map on the troublesome unit and just now experiencing this problem? Possibly the map has a glitch in that area. Has this occurred in other areas?

Why not try a hard reset to see if that helps making sure you do a backup of your favorites (saved places).

My guess

is that it was a temporary poor satellite constellation and/or poor reception condition. If it happens again though, I would be concerned that it is a problem with your GPS device or software.

UP is a suburb of DC, about a mile or so north of the DC line. Fairly urban; 2,3, & 4 story buildings in the area. Only possible source of interference is the speed camera located at that intersection.

First and only time for my 3597. I travel that route twice a day and it never happened before. I've had a similar thing happen a few times with my 855 at different locations, but after a few blocks my position would snap back onto the correct road. With the 3597 the full 20mi track was displaced to the west by 0.20mi.

It's been working OK for the last day.

Strange Behavior

I've never experienced this with any of my Garmin units.

It's strange indeed.

I've experienced that

I've experienced that driving through the caverns of buildings in NYC where the GPS fix is often hindered.
