Updated using Samsung Kies 2 app but it was also available OTA if you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

My grandson has that phone.

My grandson has that phone. The OTA upgrade totally bricked the phone. He had to get a replacement from Verizon. Good thing there was insurance on the device.

GPSMAP 76CSx - nüvi 760 - nüvi 200 - GPSMAP 78S

checked my phone

and it was applied on 8/18.

But I still have this issue

Volume not staying to previously set value after the last software upgrade

and the status bar email thing.

Makes me wonder sometimes about these fixes.

Sometimes its not the phone

On a previous upgrade, I had some serious problems like the phone rebooting after being a call for about 10 seconds. A lot of other people had worse problems. After I deleted a couple of apps my problems all went away and the phone hasn't had a problem since then.

My S4 is on Verizon so the update maybe only was available for Verizon S4's.

of updates are carrier specific. AT&T is almost always last. Verizon is early. Often a couple of Canadian carriers are very early to the party. For an "international" version, I would poke around the Samsung website....

improved battery drain rate

Since the OTA update I seem to notice an improved battery drain rate, but then again I'm not a heavy cell ph user.

how

How old are your S4's....2+ years?

Just curious, if so, that's cool. Mine was purchased on eBay 3 mos. ago, but new in box for Verizon...it was truly new as if retail (I have fallen for a couple on eBay that seemed to be Asurion replacements, not actually NIB)

MIne is 4 months old and was built in late 2014

Bought mine for a couple of hundred bucks on a big sale back in May at Best Buy brand new along with a free Samsung case. When I registered it on Samsung site it identified the manufactured date as late 2014 so it appears Samsung is still building the S4's for Verizon.

The nice thing is the S4 can do things and has features that were eliminated with the introduction of the S5 and S6 generation.

I never take an update.Mine

I never take an update.

Mine is a Verizon unit, rooted, unlocked, with TWRP recovery and CyanogenMod 13.

I remember when it came in the mail, I had to power it up with the SIM card removed, and not accept any update via Wifi/Samsung.

Since then I decided all smart phones or tablets will only be Nexus models purchased directly from Google.

Google allows me to do what I want to with my device.
