Using unit with usb power

When using a standard USB cable attached to the computer the unit is seen by Express and it triggers the data mode. There are instructions available on the web of how to modify a USB cable to prevent going into data mode but it's a little difficult to do for the average person. The easiest solution is to use a cell phone charger as the data pins are not connected so the unit will operate while plugged in.
