Nuvi 2797 LMT

A couple of days ago i put an order into Amazon.ca for a Nuvi 2797 LMT. Price NEW $ 229.00 Beaver bucks, FREE delivery. Cheaper than GPS City.ca at $ 239.00 Refurbished plus shipping. Also got a beanbag for it.

Just arrived today and gave it a quick tryout. I AM IMPRESSED!
Barely out of the box and it had acquired my location, real fast.

Seems as if the speed limit goes a bit pinkish as you exceed the limit at first and then goes red. Love the size, great for us old farts!

I'm so impressed with it

I'm so impressed with it that I bought three of them. A backup and a backup to the backup.

Lower price

Amazon price today is 219.99...

Nice unit

I got mine at Christmas and I am really happy with it. My car does not have Bluetooth so the hands free phone feature is really handy. I have just got back from a road trip to the USA and I found the voice recognition a real time saver, just say a place or store name and hey presto it gives you a list of the nearest locations.(GPS city have great video tutorials on how to use all the units many features) The speed limit feature was very handy, the unit converts the speed limit from MPH to KPH once I crossed the border. I demonstrated the units features to my cousin and he was so impressed he ordered one from Ebay.
It certainly is a nice unit.

Great GPS

I have the 2757 and purchased a separate GTM traffic receiver antenna as the one it came with was not able to do HD traffic. I've had it for a few years and absolutely love it. I use it often (recently on a trip to Chicago from Toronto) and it worked flawlessly.

220.00 USD = 269.776 CAD (Beaver bucks)
I got a much better deal then !!!

Also found out just copying the current.gpx file from the 3790 does not work.
Had to learn real quick to use BaseCamp. Now have all my favorites again and created a route. And also loaded my POI's
using POI loader.
I'm happy !

Garmin Express

You can transfer all your favorites from your other unit by backing it up on Garmin Express and then connect your 2797 and it will ask if you wish to get your favorites transfered to it.
You will like the speed limit feature when you come and visit Canada, it will automatically change our KM per Hour to good old MPH on your unit.

Probably not an issue since Melaqueman is from Toronto. wink

2797

Had mine since it first came out, paying out $300 at GPS city. First rate unit and cAnt beat the size. Have recurring issue with intermittent handshaking to the iPhone 5s. Figured out finally to reset the Blue tooth switch on the 5s. Some have traced this to IOS latest update, but not certain. Just wished they would have come out with a version which included a dash cam only. Don't care for all the extra 'safety' crap they added to the new Overpriced Nuvicam.

I had my 3790LMT completely backed up (As I always do) to my hard drive just before updating to the newest map 2015.40 so the current.gpx file was on my hard drive already.

Maybe then it will automatically change to Mph in the US of A too.

Love some features such as if in a set route, it will not only tell me a turn coming up using the street name but it also uses things as turn before the gas station, also shows many stores, restaurants etc on the screen I had never seen before.

Can't wait to take it on a long trip,

Unless

Unless your 2797 is different from any Nuvi I've owned you will not see an "automatic change" from KMH to MPH or vice versa. To change from Metric to US readouts and back again you will need to go to Settings - Units & Time - Units and change the setting pick between Miles and Kilometers. Be sure to Save the change before you backout of that screen.

Like yourself, we travel south for the winter, I find we usually change the Units setting while we are waiting in line at the border crossings. laugh out loud
