Volume on Nuvi 360

I got my first GPS (NUVI 360) a week ago and love it so far. Has anyone else noticed that the volume for the TTS commands and blue tooth is much lower than the volume for the MP3 playback? Is there a way to fix this, or is it a common problem?

Thanks in advance for any help/comments.

Yes, there's a tweak

But you have to be confident using a hex editor, and hacking a voice file a bit.

Thanks

Thanks for your help. I'll experiment with some of the foreign language voices that I don't need anyway.

Is there a separate volume

Is there a separate volume control for each? On the 660 you can change the volume of Navigation separately from the MP3 playback in the system volume control. Not sure if it is this way on the 350 though.

Nuvi 660

Not on the 300s

There's only one audio control for MP3 & navigation instructions. That's one of the reasons I like my 660 vs the 350 I started out with.

How do you do this?

I didn't know there was a separate volume control. How is this done?

nuvi 360 low volume speaking; high volume mp3's

I found and downloaded the program mp3gain. For a quick tryout I just guessed at a
-dB and used it on all mp3's (about 220) in test directory, then copied those to
a SD card. On a 50 mile drive, it worked well. The speaking voice is now louder than the mp3's. In fact, a few of the mp3's were too low on volume. Now, I'll use mp3gain
to equalize volume of all mp3's.

Thanks.

Oh; a friend sent me a link to a hack on the Garmin's volume control, using a
hex editor. I'll look it over, but mp3gain seems to work OK without the risks.

cheers

Thanks!

Thanks, I would like the voice louder too!

I don't know where I'm going or remember where I've been...without Garmin.

nuvi 360 low volume speaking; high volume mp3's

I forgot to add that I am using a Pioneer radio/cdplayer with audio input,
so all sounds come through car speakers, a big improvement.

nuvi 360 volume

http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/TTSVoiceEditor
not sure if this has been posted but there is a very easy way to increase the volume on the nuvi 360
plug in your nuvi, via usb cable
open folder to view files
open Garmin folder within garmin folder open Voice folder you will see all the .vpm voice files
copy your selected voice file eg:american jill.vpm and past to a folder on your computer, now you should also make a backup (original) for safe keeping
now open TTSVoiceEditor you will see the default volume is 65% increase to say 95% save file, now copy new modded .vpm
voice file to your Garmin and your good to go.

TTSVoiceEditor - volume

The program will let you increase the voice volume only. It won't affect other sounds like MP3, alerts or system sounds.

If you hear too much distorsion after increasing the voice volume, reduce it a bit and it will improve.
