Switch from CSV to GPX format POI

I'm considering changing from a CSV format to GPX format for only one POI: Diner's Drive-ins & Dives... due to CSV POI hasn't been updated in quite a while....

Questions... Do I keep using the Audio WAV file, and BMP Icon, or is this part of the GPX as an 'all in one' file....

Thanks

Yes

When using GPX POI files you will still need to use the bmp icon and wav audio files. No different than when using CSV POI files.

Thanks for that information!

I would be interested in a broader explanation of why you would go to .gpx on this file.

What do you hope to accomplish that you could not do with the existing .csv file?

There was a revised

There was a revised "DDD-Plus" POI that was GPX only.... Which, of course now I can't find the link to it...
At one point there was a creation date difference between CSV & GPX.... files...

I had so little space on 660 that I stayed with CSV file....

Now that I've freed up some POI's on 660 and have plenty (for now) room on 2689, I wanted to switch...

One main advantage you gain

One main advantage you gain from GPX files.

If you use the bluetooth option you can enter phone numbers and dial from the GPS after selecting the POI.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6203

Triple D Plus

Like camerabob says, Triple D Plus is the best one, and it is .gpx

JanJ, use a .gpx file exactly like using a .csv file. Nothing extra needs to be done.

That's the one I was referring to!!

More options with GPX

Using GPX instead of csv offers advantages, especially if you use EPE to edit the file.

EPE allows you to link specific POIs in the file to things like a wav file or a bmp file. I believe there are some limitations on how many of these links you can use. It's also likely impractical to go to the bother on a big file. This is handy, if you want to have a unique alert or icon on certain POIs

EPE also allows you to either have unique Proximity Alert distances or to use Replace Field and give all POIs the same alert distance. I do this for Rest Areas or any other file that has a Proximity Alert. By doing so, you imbed the alert distance into the file and you no longer have to add the alert distance at the POI Loader stage. Not only is that a nuisance, but I've also loaded a file and forgot to add the distance.
