Bluetooth (Anyone using their 680 with the iPhone?)

I currently have a nuvi 680 and love it dearly. It has worked faithfully from the day I purchased, refurbished, many moons ago. I purchased and use the lifetime maps and a traffic receiver for it. The only issue I am having is the bluetooth with my iPhone 4s. I will contact Garmin with this issue, but wanted to check the knowledge here first and see if anyone can tell me what the latest bluetooth file version is for this unit. Anyone using their 680 with the iPhone? Any help/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bluetooth has many versions

Bluetooth has many versions and 680 is quite old and iphone 4s is not too old when introduced. Bluetooth on 680 is probably ver 1.00 and 4s will be using at the current ver 4.00 or 4.1 standard and this may be the reason why you having issues. Do you have a different GPS with bluetooth to try the iphone to make sure there is no problem with the iphone?

IMO.

No, I only have the one

No, I only have the one w/bluetooth. I'll contact Garmin as they may have a newer file that might be generic and work with the 600 series. Thanks.

iPhones are picky

The Bluetooth in your phone should be backwards compatible. That said, iPhones have a habit of being really picky with what devices they will pair with. I doubt that newer software will help you, since it will be the same hardware.

The reply from Garmin. Might

The reply from Garmin. Might as well close this thread.

"Unfortunately the Nuvi 680 that you have there was discontinued before the release of the Iphone 4 and as such there are not any versions of the bluetooth software available to make this compatible."
