It's: be likeable, be photogenic, and be able to hold an audience for the commercials before, during and after. The ability to paraphrase the NOAA forecast, thus limiting station liability, is a plus.

I think I remember sometime in the 70's there was a saying that went something like: "If you are in the forecasting business, financial or otherwise, forecast & forecast often. That way no one will remember the last time you were right or wrong."

Now here's the biggest secret: no one really cares. The privateers have wanted to privatize NOAA for the longest.

Here's my forecast offered 2 weeks ago: "it's still fur & down time ... till further notice." That's both 'ol school forecasting & 'ol school preparedness. mrgreen

Another storm prediction for the NE

Well another snow storm is predicted for the NE starting Sunday night. Wonder if this will materialize?

Just got 20 inches of snow and blizzard conditions. Another 8 inches of snow on the way. Can't wait till spring.
