What happens when you drop a 3597?

A dropped 3597? Or maybe it was run over by a car—or a bulldozer!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Garmin-Nuvi-3597LMT4D-GPS-Navigator-...

For those of you 3597 users who view the link, take a look at the mount. It's not the small square-ish magnetic mount but is much taller than it is wide and can even be seen extending below the 3597 and seen from the front. Very odd. The mount does seem to include a speaker.

Also, the cord is not marked like my GTM 60 so it may not be a HD traffic receiver.

[Update] Even though the box is for a nuvi 3597, the cracked display does not show the microphone hole in the lower right corner and the back side of the nuvi is not at all like my 3597. I think this item is not a nuvi 3597, at least not the North American version as suggested from the included box and packaging.

Bonus question: Can anyone identify the actual model in the images? Share your thoughts.

Some duct tape and maybe

a paperclip and that puppy will be good as new smile

"You can't get there from here"

Junk. Not even duct tape

Junk.
Not even duct tape will fix that.
But even junk is for sale. Some poor sucker will jump at it and then complain when they open the box.

I never get lost, but I do explore new territory every now and then.

Run over by a bulldozer, maybe. 3597 it is not, as if it matters.

Just do a quick comparison with the device photos on Amazon. You can easily see the differences.

I do wonder what model this is

I do agree but wonder what model this is.

I have been thinking that the 3597 is the only model ever made by Garmin that has a glass display, and to me, the pictured GPS has a glass display. I base this on the reflectivity of the display, the fractures, and the bezel that holds the display.

Also, the cradle looks to have a built-in speaker suggesting this is a powered mount, something not offered in the recent past except on the 3597.

Could this be a nuvi model only sold outside of the USA, or maybe a prototype? I remain puzzled.

Wow

Just a scratch. Nothing a little super glue won't fix. LOL

I'd

I'd guess it's a 3550, 3560 or 3590 all of which have glass screens and a mount that looks like the one in the ebay pictures.

@CraigW - the ebay ad doesn't say it's a LMTHD but an LMT4D so it wouldn't have a GTM-60 receiver. The one in the picture looks more like a GTM-35 or 36 but it's really hard to tell.

Well ...

It looks like the cord is still in good condition!

35x0

I agree with t923347 ... definitely from the 35x0 series. If you Google "nuvi 3590 images" you will find some pictures that clearly match this ebay listing.

How about some Gorilla Glue ?

Thanks

Thanks, folks. I've learned a lot today and it was fun. It appears that the box (stating HD traffic) and the various pieces of hardware shown in the ebay listing do not match.

It will be interesting to see what this item finally sells for.

As you may have guessed, I do watch ebay for new nuvi 3597 listings. I have noticed before in two previous 3597 listings that the items were offered with a flaw in the display's lower left hand corner. Whether a design issue or having been dropped on the lower left corner, one should be careful when buying a used 3597 to see that the device shows no display flaws.

I think we know enough now to end the thread.

The sale

Yikes, it sold for $41 + $9 S&H.
