Since I've had an airbag, I've learned to hold the lower part of the steering wheel. It's more comfortable and natural to me anyway.
No hands for holding the phone while driving. Illinois is a hands free only state. I still see people driving while talking on the phone or even worse, texting, but it is all illegal now. It all must be hands free.
