Trapster says goodbye...

I got this email today from Trapster...seems they will be ceasing service. I seldom used the service but just the same, I hate to see them go.

After evaluating our ongoing investments, we have decided to discontinue the Trapster service by the end of the year.

It is hard to imagine saying goodbye after 7 years but we want to thank you for using Trapster and your loyalty to the Trapster community.

Thank you,
Team Trapster

Wow. I have tried their app

Wow. I have tried their app on and off but never consistently. Same like you, hate to see them cease service.

no surprise

After the stalking issue was reported, I'm not surprised.

I downloaded it but

never really used it...between the GPS and Valentine One never felt the need to use up data bytes on the iPad.

Same here. My Valentine One is one of the best purchases I've ever made for my car...along with various GPS units.

Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

WAZE was the better option.

Trapster substitute

Things change.

So along comes WAZE. Just as useful.

And even that app is just a backup to my Garmin 2495LMT

The only program I really miss is NETSCAPE

Red light cameras

I'll miss them for the redlight camera info. It was easy to install on my garmin to alert me to where the cameras are.

But for traps, I have been using Waze for about a year and really like it.

Sad.

Sad.

I stopped using Trapster when I discovered POI Factory.

trapster

Trapster success and accuracy is based on people reporting as it happens- sometimes is good but its not easy to update to get accurate results. Waze is better but also depends on updates but the good thing with waze is that fellow waze you can see their speed on the same road you travelling.
IMO

Goodbye

so long and good day.

I am sad to know the end of trapster

Trapster changed the way they accepted poi`s, that can be the cause. They no longer reported police radars and traps on the streets. Many people stopped going to the site.

The marketplace has chosen

That is sad. Sorry to see them go. I have used Trapster but not Waze. Will have to give Waze a try.

The data varied widely depending on contributions. Still it was a pioneer for crowdsourcing data to use in portable navigation devices.
