Troubleshooting BMP Icon issue w/ Mac POI Loader

I spoke with someone today who was having troubles loading BMP icons using the Mac version of POI Loader. He had done some troubleshooting with Garmin technical support, and they found that the icons worked with the PC version of POI Loader but not the Mac version. On the Mac, they would cause an "unexpected error".
He mentioned having problems with icons for Wendy's, Rest Areas, and Best Buy.
Additionally, they found that these BMP files would work with the Mac version of POI Loader if they were first opened and then re-saved with the Paint program.
Has anyone else run into this problem?
Does anyone know what the exact issue is with the BMP file that's causing the problem?
Gathering a little more info will help us determine the best solution for the long term.

You could look at the
You could look at the Console output; it might shed some light on the error. But it could be BMP are bit-mapped, and maybe the app expects vector-based. Probably the easiest is to open the BMP in Preview and then save it as a PNG or JPG.
