I'm not familiar with the DC20. How does it interface with the GPS. I have a NUVI 2555LMT which eould be compatible.

Try this

Like GPSGeek, I'm unfamiliar with the Dash Cam 20.

The unit's owners manual

http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/Dash_Cam_10_20_OM_EN.pdf

states that the device has a USB port for getting updates with Garmin Express software. The Garmin faq I think you referenced

http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?c...

states that Garmin's POI Loader software is used to add Custom POIs to the devices, so I expect that POI Loader can be used to install custom POIs from your computer to the device. Here at the POI Factory, the POI Loader software could be used to install the redlight and speed camera files to your device which is a 2nd way to get safety camera points to alert for you.

I've never bought or downloaded the free trial of Garmin's Safety Camera data but the link to the download

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/prod69781.html?cID=287?pID=6...

states that the downloaded file is transferred to the GPS device via USB cable.

My thoughts are:

1) Before buying Garmin's Safety Camera data, try the free trial first.

2) Have your Dash Cam 20 connected to your computer before downloading the safety camera data. (There may be some computer drivers installed the first time your Dash Cam is USB-connected to your computer.) Once connected and recognized by the computer, download the Safety Camera data. I expect that the Garmin installation will walk you through any necessary steps.*

3) Many folks here much prefer the redlight and speed camera POI files offered here

http://www.poi-factory.com/poifiles/us/red-light-cameras

so you have this as an alternative to the Garmin file.*

* If you do install the Garmin Safety Camera data or the Custom POI files (with Garmin's POI Loader software) from here at The Factory to your Dash Cam 20, we'd appreciate hearing how the installation went and what steps are needed. To my knowledge, you may be the first Dash Cam 20 owner here at The Factory's Garmin forum.

PS—I'm trying to figure out your avatar. Is it a Canadian military engineer or sapper insignia? Maybe not, as I don't see a crown or beaver wink

That's The Hat (Beret) Badge for the Fort Garry Horse (Winnipeg Mb), Canadian Light Armour.

I have tried the Garmin sites to DL a trial of there SW to allow POI's (red light cameras) it won't work in the CDN site "at all", my account is CDN so I can't DL from any other country. Grrrr.

Hi any update on this?
