latest tomtom update

have a tomtom xxl . recieved email for map update . this was about the 4 time of updateding maps on my tomtom and tells me im 12.4 mb short of being able to install update when getting to install to internal memory . i googled on line and tried doing factory reset . ( did copy favorites before doing step ) but no go . any help would be appreciated .

many tomtoms run out of

many tomtoms run out of memory

  • create BACKUP,
  • rename backup folder to backup01
    • you dont want to lose this unaltered backup if you make another backup later

copy your personal poi to your pc and delete them from the map folder (put em back after)

  • delete the contents of the /POI folder, .tlv files are not required
  • zip or delete the licenses folder
  • zip or delete the backup folder
    • home is already installed not required
  • zip or delete unrequired help folders, other languages

in tomtom Home

  • remove unused
    • voices,
    • startup
    • shutdown
    • custom overlays
    • vehicle images
    • color schemes

If still not enough room, read "map zones" on the tom tom site

see if you have map zones for your country.
Also tomtom is active on the these kind of issues.
See if someone else has reported this issue on tomtom
forums. If not post there this should be easily resolved. I was offered a map zone, with no cost.

I had screwed everything up trying to make enough room on tomtom but no luck . problem was I deleted map thinking everything ok trying for the new map update .(no go ) luckily found site where it told you where to look for downloaded maps and I was able to get tomtom working again .reloaded the last map . so much for lifetime updates .

I added a 4 GB micro card to my 1515 when I got the low memory warning. I have the USA/Mexico/Canada map as well as Europe. Between the 2 almost 8 gb. So with operating system it gets tight. now I have 1 map on device and other on SD card with plenty of room for all the poi's I get from here.
