myTrends Kicked In Recently

The myTrends feature on my Garmin 3760 kicked in recently, exactly 4 weeks from the date I started using it.

In addition to predicting my intended destinations based on day of week and starting time, the routes it now suggests follow my usual pathway instead of stubbornly sticking to the routes that it used to suggest.

Happy camper here! smile

I Like The Looks of That Feature

That looks like a pretty cool feature. I take my own short cuts around certain cities and this feature would be nice to have. I think I'll get that one on my next unit.

sounds cool

Wish that was on the 255w!

I wish it would completely kick in here

I drive two different routes to and from work and they are long commutes. The only thing my 3790 has changed is the last 2 miles, which is the least important part. I know how to get to and from work, but I want to see the traffic where I'm going, not where the GPS thinks I should go.

And don't even let me get started on "Trip Planner". rolleyes

Cool feature

I could use that feature because my zumo 660 won't ever take me through my little town unless I put a way point in the middle of Main St.

I'm curious if the GPS will lose the learned Trends if you do a firmware or map update and have to re-learn the trends again. That might be something to watch and report on during your next updates.

Enjoy not having to hear "Recalculating" as often.

not all it's cracked up to be...

myTrends can be quite annoying when it predicts you'll be going someplace on a certain day/time and you really are not. The green banner will stay fixed on the predicted destination that it -thinks- you want to go and won't change until you've passed the prediction time frame, you set a new route or you disable the feature altogether. Seems there's no way to simply cancel out the predicted destination. Why I've found this annoying is because the green banner will continuously show this predicted destination and will refuse to show upcoming cross streets or anything else for that matter. For this reason, I have myTrends disabled.

My trends is a great feature

My trends is a great feature that I use on my 3790 all the time. Just tap on the screen and it goes away. The Garmin also remembers the routes that you take and adjust to your driving habits. Garmin always recommended that I take a certain route home but I chose my route until one day the Garmin gave me the same route that I took. Cool stuff!

If it's as simple as that, I sure missed it. Thanks for the tip...I'll give it a try the next time it bugs me.

Wish I had that on my 765t.

Trends On?

Have not noticed My Trends on my 3760. Will have to check to see if I've disabled it.

Will Try To Remember to Check myTrends After Next Update

I do enjoy fewer interruptions. However, I never hear "Recalculating". With the help of TurboCCC's TTS VoiceEditor, Jill now reacts quite calmly with a simple "Oh, OK". wink

I gave it a shot just now and it's as I thought before, seems you cannot cancel it out without either waiting for the suggested route time to expire or disabling myTrends. I tried touching the screen and as expected, it only goes to the map panning view screen. Touching the green navigation bar only takes you to the suggested myTrends route to navigate to it. As I mentioned, there is no means to cancel the myTrends suggested route to reset the green navigation bar to it's normal operation.

I too used Turbo's editor to say, "Okay Kevin. Let me try and figure out where you are going now."

Surprisingly, its more soothing than hearing "Recalculating".

I use just a period (.) No notices, it just silently gives me a new route.

Nice feature (if it can work properly)

Garmin trying to bring more value to standalone units. I know phone/gps units can be programmed to do the same but, as far as I know, it's a unique feature for now.

I'll take advantange of the feature but think I'll wait til I read that there's no issues with being able to easily cancel the routing.
