Master Volume

Now that I have two 2460 units, and setting them up the same, I have found some differences. Some was files on one and not on the other. After deleting (saving to PC first) I am within about 100mb. Not worth looking for the differences. However, I found a setting in the mater volume on one, but not the other. It is a 3 bar slider looking icon on the top left of the Master Volume screen that allows you to adjust the volume to a phone and to Navigation. This icon is not present on the other. From what I have checked so far, I think all software versions are the same.

Ideas on why the differences?

Also, I updated to 2015.10 on both units via GE without any problems. myGarmin and WebUpdater did not show the new version available for install.

EDIT: There is also a 10+ average difference in elevation.

Elevation Issue

I can't add anything about the other issues. However, I was advised by Garmin that the Elevation is determined, by triangulating from the satellites.

This came about, when I fired up my NUVI 2555 in an plane, and found that the elevation displayed seemed to be very close to what I estimated to be correct.

If you are getting a difference of only 10 feet, that's excellent.

p.s. If you don't mind a suggestion, please add a line in the Signature portion of your profile, that says what your GPS model is. This will automatically tell people what you have, when you're posting. You mentioned the 2460 in this post, but didn't in a previous post.

I certainly don't have an answer to the missing 3-bar slider if both have the same firmware (latest updates with WebUpdater). I checked my 2460 and the slider and phone/nav option is there for me. I can think of one possibility--I wonder if the 3-bar and nav/phone option only appears on 2460s that have activated Bluetooth or paired a phone. You could test this by taking your non-3-bar 2460 and activating Bluetooth/phone-pairing, then see if the feature has appeared. My reason for thinking this is that there's no need for multiple volume settings if master volume only affects navigation volume.

Regarding map updates: WebUpdater will never show or offer map updates.

Learned something

Didn't know that ... Makes sense.
