When you said you tried to "see" the card in your nuvi, I assume you mean you tried to see it on your computer when the card was in your nuvi and the nuvi was attached to the computer. The nuvi does not have a built in file browser for either the SD card or the internal storage.

Secondly, you may need to set your computer to expose hidden and system files. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39185. I think the 2555 operates in MTP mode (Media Transport Protocol) by default, so you also need to change your nuvi to Mass Storage mode before you can see all files on the SD card. Third, if the JCV file is on the card and is the same version as distributed with Garmin map updates, you need to match the JCV file version to the specific City Navigator version you have.

Again, if you bought the map preinstalled on a SD card, I think it is doubtful that you would be able to replace the JCV file on the SD card. But if you can find the file, you might want to risk trying it ... particularly if you get a new map card and can find the old JCV file that matches the old card. If it was me, I don't think I would risk messing with a pre-installed map card that I was still using.
