Garmin StreetPilot 2820 and NuMaps 2014.4

Since CN North America 2013.3, the entire North America mapset no longer fits on my StreetPilot 2820 that I use on the motorcycle. My work-around is to load the maps into Mapsource or Basecamp,and create an unlocked img file of the lower 49 States and eastern Canada. That has reduced file size from 2.3 GB to about 1.6 GB.

If anyone is having problems using Streetpilot 27XX and 28XX series GPS with updated maps, this is the way to keep using this very capable unit.

Streetpilot is also fully compatible with the POI Loader software and readily accepts the Red Light and Speed Camera POI sets from POIFactory.

Making an unlocked img file?

Just read about making an unlocked img file for a Garmin Streetpilot 2820 from GPS_Rider. I would like to know how to do this and transfer it to my 2820. City Navigator North America NT 2018.1 is already unlocked in both Basecamp and Mapsource.
