My Garmin is stuck on the Screen with "press the dot"

What can I do to get the screen off the press the dot screen. I have turned off, then put finger in left hand corner while turning back on. press the dot forever and never gone any further. Help!

Welcome to the site

Not sure I understand exactly what you have done.

Usually when I get a "press the dot" message, I have put my device in "screen calibration" mode in order to cure my feeling that my 765T is not responding accurately or quickly enough.

Is this what you did?

By the way, when I am on this calibration screen, I prefer to use a pencil eraser to "press the dot" and keep doing so as the dot moves from place to place on the screen.

When you "press the dot", does it move to a new spot?

describe the screen more completely

Can you describe the screen more completely as to everything that is shown?

That would help people better understand what is happening and more likely to be able to help.

Agreed, this is touchscreen calibration mode. Follow the prompts and press the dots. If after following the prompts and pressing the dots, the calibration screen does not clear (endless loop), your touchscreen digitizer could be trashed. You can have Garmin repair it ($$$) for the cost of purchasing a brand new new GPS which will included Lifetime Maps or you can have it repaired by a third-party. See:

A third option is to purchase the proper digitizer/LCD for your unit from ebay and install it yourself but it's not really recommended, especially if you have no experience with this type of repair. See the link above for more info on what is involved with replacing the digitizer and search for YouTube videos explaining the replacement process.
