Good heavens, that's brutal cold. I guess the weather here in Chicago isn't so bad after all.

Guess I shouldn't complain about it being 68 degrees where I live!

It is 80 degrees in Orlando, FL. I love this state in the winter, not so much in the height of summer. In the evenings, it is a windows down cruising dream. Thanks to this site, no unknown red light cameras to bring me down.

2" accumulation of sleet and freezing rain in Dallas and lows last night in the teens. Slick roads and lots of accidents. Many trees and tree limbs down from the heavy ice. Hundreds of cancelled flights at both DFW and Love Field. On Wednesday it was almost 80 degrees - teens now!

Do you mean that it has never snowed before Christmas in Canada in the past? Has the temperature never dropped below freezing before Christmas in the past? I'm in Northwest Ohio and it always starts to get really cold here around the middle of December. January is usually our coldest month of the year. There isn't anything unusual about the weather this year. Yes, the temperature is below normal right now but remember that normal is the just the average and some days are warmer and some cooler than average.

25C here today, looks like we wont get a white Christmas this year. It's going be surfs up again, bar b q's, Chicks in bikini's, you know all that fun stuff. Sorry guys had to say that. I hate cold too

As that old saw goes, "If you don't like the weather,wait a few hours, it'll change."

Out here we generally get cold temperatures or lots of snow. But not both - at the same time! I just hate winter.

As for "normal weather", I studied climatology at university a long time ago. I made a little money as a student assistant doing computer work on the doctoral thesis of one of Canada's most well known "change deniers", Dr. Tim Ball.

Here in northern Illinois, last weekend, I finished raking leaves and cutting grass, I now just got done shoveling the driveway, 2" of snow.

Well, at least you won't have to cut the grass again this year!

I mowed our lawn yesterday. Definitely sweat a bunch. Had to drink lots of water.

A lot different from the weather most of you are experiencing.

I played golf last Wednesday in Dallas with a high for the day of 80 degrees. On the next day, Thursday, it started sleeting and freezing rain, with accumulation of 3"+ of solid ice...and 3,000 cancelled flights at DFW airport. Today, on Tuesday, the ground is still covered with ice because the temperatures have stayed below freezing.

You mean the Russians aren't doing it?

The weather here the forecasters can never get it right, for example, if they say it is going to rain in the next 2 or 3 months at our place (and they will) there is an 80% or 90% chance it will not rain.

If they were to say it's going to rain on the West Coast and be fine on the East Coast and forget about any fancy predictions they would get it right about 75% of the time which is better than what is happens.

The forecasters need to look out the window more often that what they do now.
