I got the 2555lmt recently and spend most of my workday on the Northern fringe of traffic coverage for the Boston area. I would tap the traffic icon from time to time to see if it could receive any live traffic info. What was amusing was that when it did get a weak signal, if I browsed within traffic conditions it would give me 2 or 3 areas to avoid that were over a thousand miles away! I wasn't expecting the traffic feature to work in Southern New Hampshire anyway, but I was not expecting traffic updates from Louisiana and Arkansas. Has anyone else had this happen. To be fair it worked fine when I drove down to Hartford recently and it had a good signal.

Provides Traffic on Route
I have found that when I have a destination trip working in my 3490, it will give available traffic info, and alerts, all along the route, even several hundred miles away. Since I don't live in a traffic covered location, don't know what it does without a active route.

I get that nonsense also on my 3590. Don't get it on my 3790. I've said it before i'm not in favor of the way traffic works on my 3590.

I just got a 2959LMT with HD
I just got a 2959LMT with HD Traffic. Supposedly, it updates every 30 seconds instead of every 5 minutes. It worked very well yesterday to avoid the worst of it it here in Orlando. However, it only appears to help when there is a route going or destination selected. Otherwise, it just tells you there is traffic, and you have no idea how much, just that it is in front of you.
