voices for nuvi 3597

hello am a newbe at this but just bought the garmin 3597lmthd am am wondering where you can get newer voices plus has any one had trouble with the garmin express ie opening the extra folder some time it opens ok other time just opens in a small box and i cant download anythink Paul

WebUpdater

Garmin Express definitely causes problems for many folks, so for updates other than map updates, use WebUpdater:

http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

When running WebUpdater, you're first offered any new firmware for your nuvi, then offered other updates including text, voice, traffic and other updates. If there's a new voice or a voice update for you, you'll want to check the box for each update desired.

Good luck--and welcome to The Factory. Report back if you need more help.

PS--for map updates, you may want to look to use GarminMapUpdater rather than Garmin Express:

PPS--If you're happy with WebUpdater and GarminMapUpdater, you can uninstall Garmin Express from your computer.

Also know that there are extra cute voices both from Garmin and others--and both free and paid. But all of these extra voices do NOT offer TTS (Text to Speech) so using them rather than a voice like Jill will change "In point one miles, turn left on Elm Street" to "In point one miles, turn left."

Additional Voices For 3597

I remember reading a while back the 3597 only came with one English TTS voice.

I don’t know if this still holds true that the 3597 only comes with one English TTS voice, and that is Samantha.
The 3597 has TTS3 voices, they are quite large in size compared to other model Nuvi’s. That is most likely why they ship with a limited amount.
The Samantha size as reported by forum member t923347 is 31049KB.

The default and the only one that ships with the US 3597, is Samantha. There is also now:

Australian English - Lee and Karen
British English - Daniel and Serena
Indian English - Sangeeta
American English - Jack

All of these are available through your myGarmin.com account under myDashboard - Updates - Voices.

Here is the link for the above quote with additional information on the 3597.

I've found that the best way to update or add additional voices for the 3597 is to use the myDashboard feature in your myGarmin.com account. Although it's hard to tell, Webupdater doesn't seem to know the difference between the old TTS voices and the new TTS3 voices you need for your 3597 and I don't use Garmin Express for anything.

All of the voices for the 3597 are available through your myGarmin.com account under myDashboard - Updates - Voices, with your Nuvi attached to your computer. I believe that this model still comes with only Samantha installed and there are 7 other English voices available.

All of these additional voices are much larger than the voice files required on older Nuvi models.

British and Australian Voices for 3597

This may be posted elsewhere, but "Garmin help" sent me this info and it worked great. I now have the British and Australian voices on my Garmin 3597, and they speak street names. You may find as I did, that Garmin Express does not list these voices. You have to use WebUpdater to get them. Also make sure the "English" update is loaded - somehow it was not on my device.

"You that you may install female versions of not only British, but also Australian English voices to your device. They can be accessed by using the Garmin WebUpdater program. After ensuring your software is up to date, WebUpdater will supply several optional update options, including additional voices. Follow the instructions below to install WebUpdater and add the voices to your device:
