POI Factory Red Light Camera Alerts

I have a question having recently joined POI Factory.

I downloaded the trial version of red light camera alerts from Garmin for my Nuvi2495. It works great.

What I don't understand is whether this site offers a competing application. Or does it just offer updates to new camera placements. And if so, how, or can you sync them with the Garmin app? Just knowing where new cameras may be all over the country doesn't really help me. I just work in the New York area. If it's just a list, as it appears to be, that doesn't really assist me very much.

Appreciate anyone's advise on this subject.

Red light cameras

The POI factory camera file shows all of the red light camera locations across the country. It is updated on a weekly basis and is as far as I am concerned, the best red light camera file available. It has saved me numerous times. As far as syncing with the Garmin file, I don't think that's possible. Hope this helps.

Poi Factory is better

The poi factory file can be set up to alert you. As stated it is updated weekly. Pretty much all locations in the US and Canada are verified by members. That's what makes it more accurate.
As for picking out just NY, well the file takes up very little space so it should not be a concern.

Welcome to poi factory.

No synch. Replace

To continue with what others have said, the POI Factory's files don't synch with Garmin's Cyclops file, but the Factory's speed and redlight files can replace the Cyclops file. It's also possible to keep Cyclops and Factory redlight/speed files both active without any problems arising.

Why Factory over Garmin?

-Your trial Garmin file can't be updated without buying the annual subscription from Garmin ($25?/yr)

-If you keep your windmill, the Factory files are free

-Factory files can add Custom icons and Custom audio

-Many folks here report that the Factory's files are more accurate--and if you find a location with a false positive alert or a missing alert, you can report it here and it'll be included in a future--maybe even the next--update.

Update frequency and cost

If you keep your windmill alive, you can get the traffic camera files free here. But, Garmin will gladly sell you the same information for $24.99 every year. Of course, if you need Traffic Cameras information other than US and Canada, POI Factory can not help you.

I can not comment on the update frequency for Garmin's traffic cameras. However, if any indication given by the way Garmin updates/corrects the map, I would not put much of the trust for traffic cameras information.
