Embedded Guardrail Radar Gun/Camera System

Reportedly installed somewhere along the 20-mile elevated stretch of I-10 that crosses the Atchafalaya River Basin between Lafayette and Baton Rouge, LA, a motion detector triggers the gun, which sends a photo of any offending vehicle to a waiting law enforcement vehicle about a mile ahead.

Need To Get A Good GPS Fix On It/Them

Having traveled that stretch a couple of times recently, I noticed that the posted limits were lowered wherever there was an arched section, apparently due to the narrowing of the shoulder "safety" area, but also varied at other places for no apparent rhyme or reason other than to catch drivers not paying close attention.

It's not unusual to see multiple state and parish law enforcement vehicles by the time you travel from one end to the other--usually with someone pulled over. Since it appears to be as stationary as any RLC, I'm hoping we can get enough sharp eyed drivers (commuters?) to ID the location(s)and get the data into the Speed Camera file ASAP.

Good one

I've read on another blog that Nostradamus was George Orwell's middle name. His prediction was off only by a few years.

Combination of LIDAR With Cameras?

I've got folks who travel that stretch more often than me on the lookout for that installation, including whether there's any RLC-type warning signage. Meanwhile, some other recent findings make it appear the previous photos may only be depicting a portion of the complete system. A look through a sales brochure (linked below) reveals there might be a much more visible camera housing near the measurement unit.
