She has a long extensive theft record but stiil on the street

And she looks like such an upstanding citizen in the photo.

How much do they have to do before they finally punish them? The problem is they never really get punished so they just keep doing it over and over if there is no real consequence.

There are a number of lost/stolen phone apps for smartphones (Android and iPhone - probably Windows as well), that are free. Functionality ranges from reporting back the location information, snapping a photo, recording audio, to sounding a loud alarm, to wiping personal data.

Prey for computers provides similar functionality for computers.

Well

I bet the back back of her hand will be red from the smack she receives. rolleyes

newsday story

Today's Newsday had a story about an app that helped recover a stolen phone.
http://origin.misc.pagesuite.com/clips/74c160e0-a476-48c8-9e...

And yet....

Probably 1000's more do not get recovered because the police don't consider the theft of one phone a serious use of their time and resources. Also if the thieves are smart, which most are not, they simply do a hard reset of the phone and it wipes the app. But most probably just steal and sell, or use in the first hour to rack up long distance calls and then discard it.
