RealView Junction views

recently purchased a garmin unit that comes with RealView Junction view. However I am yet to see an junctions appear so far on roads in New Jersey. Anybody with similar experience?

Just to be sure

Just to be sure:

-are you running a route to a location? JVs only appear when traveling a route.

-a good test is to run in simulator mode on a route that includes interstate highway interchanges and exits. Of course, you can also drive the route in real time too.

Real Junction View

The only place that I have gotten a Real Junction view is in Lafayette,La.

What device is this? Since most device include lifetime maps these days it's possible that on the most recent upgrade the small junction view file was sent to the device. That would severely limit the number of junction views the OP sees.

Small Junction View?

I'm confused here, in the past the smaller junction view file was a split screen, the large (775MB) was full screen. They contained the same amount of Junction Views, the larger graphics increased the file size. Is there a third small size JCV that still is split screen but contains less junction views due to insufficient space on the Nuvi?

3760 gets very small split screen JCV file

The split screen file JCV for the nuvi 3760 is only 1/3 size of split screen JCV file for 3790. I disable it and use large full screen JCV on my 3760.

I see them all over the Tucson area

I have the 3790LMT and I get junction views at every freeway junction and every exit I use when exiting the freeway when it is on a route.

My wife said that too but after I told her that she got to put

it on route and voila it showed.

Only in Lafayette??

I live around the southeast Louisiana area and they are all over, nearly on every interstate exit. This can't be true.

JCV

I have the large JCV on an SD card in the 855 and
internally on the 3790.

Anytime I use a route it shows up on limited access highways with exit and entrance lanes.

I use the same unit while traveling in South Jersey without any issues. You may wish to contact GARMIN support to check that the correct cable was packaged with your unit.

Junction Views

I have an older 1650LMT and have been getting junction views for at least 2 years now. As newer maps come out, more junction views are put in.

Do a search on POI, that's how I found it!

Cable?

UnNamed wrote:

As far as I know, the two types of cables determine whether you have the traffic receiver, but would have no effect on Junction Views.

I would check if your

I would check if your Computer shows a JV file on your GPS

It's New Jersey Jake

Possibly because the whacky, oddball highway design in NJ defies reality and common sense.

NY

It works when you put in a route on major highways

I dint know that

How do you check it on your computer?

Device shows up as a removable drive

If you attach a Garmin device to your computer, the GPS should show up in Explorer as a removable drive. You can then look to see what files the GPS contains.

By the way, since you will have the GPS attached to the computer, why not make a backup of it (which is also a good idea immediately after it has been updated).

If you have several Backups - I name my backups something line /Backups/Nuvi 765 20130903 (ie. device name and date) - then you can see what files changed before and after updates.

Wow..

I still have a c530..,,how far these units have come...wow!

.system or jcv folder does not show up

I have tried everything suggested on forum to alter folder options in order to view jcv /.system folder The folders still don't appear on my nuvi 2597. PC is running windows xp

No JunctionView

your 255 does not have junction view

look at

MTP > MS

Two things:

The 2597 uses MTP and you need to switch to MS mode

https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?...

Instructions for switching can be found here:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39948

I know this is an issue for Windows 7 but can't remember if it also is for Win XP.* If an XP issue, check your folder options for these three settings:

-Check "Show hidden files, folders, and drives"

-Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

-Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

Once done, you should see .System and the files and folders in this hidden system folder. If/when you find /.System/JCV/, tell us what the name and size of the jcv file is and if there are any other files in the jcv folder. It's very strange that you're not seeing JVs when running routes on major highways with interchanges and ramps so a missing, partial download or corrupt JCV file may be the issue and that's why we ask the filename and size of the jcv file (once you've found it).

PS--In your profile, please add your 2597. Your older 255 is all we knew about until you mentioned the 2597 in a reply.

[Edit]
* It appears that this is an issue for Win XP:

CraigW thanks for the tip that worked I have been able to check the jcv folder file I have is
D3191100A
File Size 470,447 KB
Not sure if the file is corrupted or not
I will back this up download the large file and install to see if this solves my problem

1450 and 1490T

2 Gps that on the Box it show the Junction view,I never see on any of them. WHY? cause they never had no JCV files in it.

So I got me 2 8GB SD cards and put them my self and now I see them all the time, I install the full scren and the split screen Jcv files but both Gps always it shows me the full screen.

The only down side of the full screen is it show way ahead of time before reaching the Exit, and it only show the lane assistance exit for a very short time.

I was watching some video on YOU Tube and I saw that the Half Screen Junction view at last always till you reach and use the exit.

JCV File

The D3191100A JCV file at 470,447 KB is the correct split view JCV file for the 2014.20 CN North America with Mexico map. This is what’s loaded on my 2460LMT and it functions properly.

I personally prefer the split screen over the full screen since the full screen only appears for a few seconds then disappears. The split screen remains on until you pass the junction.

I would copy the existing JCV file to my PC, then delete the one on the Nuvi and download the map again to see if it works properly now. I would also make a backup of my favorites (saved) and do a hard reset as an extra measure. If by chance you have an SD card inserted with another JCV file on it I would remove it for testing purposes.

This past weekend I passed through New Jersey and there were numerous Junction Views on I80 using the above mentioned file.

Edited: I don't know if this has any affect on the Junction View but may be worth trying.
Under Naviagation I have my 2460 set to the following:
Map View= 3D
Map Detail= More
Map Theme= Garmin
Map Layout= More Data

I have new nüvi® 2557LMT

I have new nüvi® 2557LMT and live in northern NJ. There are many real view pictures on 24 and Parkway. In fact I hate to say for the stereotype of NJ. My exit on the Parkway even has the exact light poles in it. Now doubt it is an actual picture.

JCV FILES

I have a 2014.20 on Sd card and I install the full screen and half screen JCV not knowing witch of the two it will show on my 1450, One thing I just notice that here is posted on this messages that the split screen version for he 2014.20 here is listed as D3191100A I check on my Sd card and the one I have is listed under D3192100A as you can see the numbers are different.

Please note that the 1450 it show me the full screen and it work fine.

I just wonder if someone here just type the wrong JCV file number or maybe I have the wrong version.

and if this is the case like to know if the D3191100A is avaiables here.

I don't think that either of those files names are correct. The 1450 doesn't support split screen views AFAIK so you need the large full screen view file which is at:

http://download.garmin.com/support/2014_20/NA/JV/D3060110A.J...

Note that the file name is D3060110A and not D3191100A or D3192100A as shown in your post.

Thank you T923347 for your answer and yes I check and the D3060110A is there too on my SD card, one thing I did not know is the 1450 doesn't support the split screen.I do not mind the full screen after all.

Thanks again.

Yes I am running active routes. The problem seems to be solved I saw one junction view today. I did a reupdate to maps and system.. When I bought the unit I think it had 2014.10 . Its possible the jcv file may have been corrupted during that initial update .

Super
