Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? – September 2013

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Last trip my GPS took me

Last trip GPS took me was from Maimi to The Magic Kingdom. As usual it was flawless and guided me around 2 accidents in the Disney area. I got lucky in that it had me get off one exit and as I went under the road I had just got off off I could see the traffic backup. It would have left me in traffic for 45 minutes

Last Trip

Baltimore, MD

last trip

Went to a DDD place in Baltimore.

Trip to Southern California

...for a funeral.

Having key locations (church, hotel, friend's houses) defined and easily accessible helped simplify a difficult situation.

The most recently found list is really handy when new places come up; search for it once, and you can get it back easily again.

900 miles in under 36 hours -- hope I don't have to do that again any time soon!

Trip to Texas

Last trip was to Katy, TX for the grand opening of my brother's hunting ranch.
It was too new to be in the GPS and there was nothing really nearby.
Once we found it, I went to NAVTEQ and put in the coordinates. I hope the address appears in the next update NAVTEQ sends out.

The GPS still instructs to exit the highway I need to be in, instead suggesting silly routes through smaller roads. Come on, Garmin, time to update the software!!!

years...don't hold your breath.

I thought that map websites had a better algorithm than GPS devices, but apparently not. A friend was driving last week and was using Google Maps on the iPhone. Same behavior, with instructions to leave the highway we need to be in and take smaller rural roads probably because the algorithm calculated it'd save 0.5 mile overall (despite the huge difference in traveling speed and traffic lights)!

What Triggers

The School Zone on the GPS. I have passed thru some school zone that will trigger the GPS and some will not do anything. Any thoughts on this.
