Icon for Red Light Camera

I used to use trapster's traffic camera data, but now I'm giving POI factory's data a spin. I noticed that trapster had a lot more files than POIF and I see that these were all image files. What image (if any) does the POIF safety data display on my GPS as I'm driving?

Look under icons....

....there are about 15 that you can choose from.

I feel very dumb right

Thank you! I feel very dumb right now...

The other site I use has them both in one download file and I completely forgot we have another section devoted to icons here!

On a related note, is there a way to get the speed cameras icons to match the speed? There are no speed cameras anywhere near where I am, but I'm just curious!

EPE

Have not tried this, and it seems like a lot of work, but EPE would work. You would have to download the speed icons (http://www.poi-factory.com/node/5642 is 15mph and http://www.poi-factory.com/node/5649 is 55, for example).

What I would do would be to open the speed camera file in Excel and sort it into US and Canada sections to account for MPH and KPH differences. if col 3 starts with an "R" then the number in positions 9 and 10 (possible 11) is the MPH/KPH value, otherwise the number is in positions 7 and 8. Inspecting the numbers following the "@" at the end of the column will let you determine whether the line is US or Canadian. If the numbers match, they are US cameras. (Note: there will be a block of lines that have no speed values so you might want to create a "??" Icon).

Having now a US and Canadian files, they can be sorted into separate files based on the speed limit.

Each of the separate files could be opened in EPE and the link to the appropriate icon can be inserted into the "Link" field in the "TourGuide Info" section by using the replace all function.

One by one save the files as .gpx files.

After all the files are created, then combine them into one by using the "merge open" feature of EPE.

Thanks!

Very Thorough! Thanks! But also way too much work for me for something I never use on a day to day basis!
