Check your SD card

I have the 1450 and the 1490.
If you have not upgraded your unit since purchase then the map would be on the unit and can be seen with the previous post but any upgrade would have to be on the SD card due to the lack of memory space on the unit and will show up as a disk in the directory and be under the file name Garmin.

map non visible

Yes I have done update on the GPS I also a new version of the map on SD card the one o the SD is a 2013.20 that I purchase extra..I also set the pc to show me all the hidden files,on the SD card yes I see the map,but Regarless if I have the SD card on the gps even if I remove the card The garmin inside the folder Garmin like I wrote above does not show no map it all. And one more thing I check every single folder in the garmin unit and I wanted to see if it will show me a folder with a BIG size of MB and I could not see none.most of the folder are like average of 200 kb .I know some map can he as hight as 1.2 -1.8 of GB, Yes the Map on SD card is a large file ,but no large file on the Garmin main folder,I know the Garmin main disk is full it only show me that I have about 8mb of empty space left.

One thing it scare me too is when I turn the GPS On and the card is inside it give a message If I want to install some files from the SD to the gps,so they are there even if the card is removed, I wish it was a way to set ones and for all not to ask me over and over if I want to trasnfer them into the Unit.

I know if I would select yes one day by mistake it would be a complety disaster cause the GPS will fail
cause the hard drive it would crash.

take the checkmark out of hide protected system files

When you selected show hidden files did you also take the checkmark out of hide protected system files?

Nuvi 1450 has the detailed

Nuvi 1450 has the detailed map (gmapprom.img) in System and not Garmin folder. If you don't see the System folder you need to follow instruction how to unhide protected system files.

system folder

I check again all he folder and the one called SYSTEM does not show I select on my PC SHOW ALL HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDER CLICK APPLY AND OK.and still I do not see any files on the Gps as SYstem.those are the folder that i can see on the gps

It still looks like you have not taken check mark out of Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

Got this from the internet with the diagrams showing what to do .Make sure to follow thru on 7,8 and 9. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-...

Track Logs

I can only speak For the 1450/1490 but your logs are saved (or suppose to be saved) in the folder Archive which is a sub-folder under GARMIN. There you should find files with a rising number and an extension of gpx.
These are not gpx files but text files. If you drag them to a folder on your computer (So you wont corrupt the ones on the Garmin) and then change the extensions to txt you can open them in Notepad.
You will get a reading as below which is telling me that my Garmin was at a position in California, 7-25-2013, Time 9:21, and a certain elevation and speed. If your trip was long this sentence would be very long.
If you wear a tin foil hat, you can delete these files from your Garmin or for saving space.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>Garmin International2013-07-25T19:40:45ZACTIVE LOG: 22 JUL 2013 09:21465.90

I'm happy with the new .20

I'm happy with the new .20 maps... so far

Wrong post

My post above ended in the wrong thread.
If you take the micro card out then you only have a base map and when you tap Map Info then you should not see any map information. The file gmapbmap.img is in the System folder.

Maps

I did remove the check mark out of DO NOT SHOW HIDDEN FILE and I ADD THE CHECK MARK ON SHOW ALL HIDDEN FILE,You can only select 1 and again YES I did put a check mark ON SHOW ALL HIDDEN FOLDER AND FILES,I CLICK APPLY AND OK..

NO kurze On my GPS even if I have the SD card inside and I click ON tools/Map/Info it show me 2 maps the 2011 version on the Gps and the 2013 on the SD CARD, and I select by adding a check Mark the newer version the one on the SD card, If i remeve the card and I click again on tools/map/info this time only show me the one on the Garmin unit.Like I said I know the map is there the Gps always is loading the Map from the garmin and the one from the Sd card, the only problem is that My garmin DOES NOT HAVE A FILE CALLED SYSTEM.

Two things

Two things:

First, the folder will be .system (with a period), not system.

Second, did you: Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"? My guess is that you still need to do this to see .system.

remove check mark

Go back to http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39185. Look at the diagram and notice on the very last selection no check mark in it.Called Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)
