I just updated this POI:
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/40418
There's 60 entries. But when I download the ov2 file only 36 entries show up in my GPS. The csv file shows the correct 60 when I download it.
I added 41 new locations today using the search/add/edit feature. I added the locations one at a time. I'm thinking that this is why the file ov2 file is off but I'm not sure why and I'm not sure if I can correct this problem.
I saw no other way to update the POI. If there's some way to add all the new locations at one time the process eludes me.
I'd like to know what happened and need to get this file straightened out. Right now I can't even use my own file because it's incomplete. Thanks in advance for the help.
File's fine.
I just downloaded your POI in OV2, and it updated fine. Once you update the CSV the OV2 will be updated by the site software automatically, though there apparently is a time delay.
Now, regarding the editing of CSV files, do get into the habit of using a text editor or spreadsheet to do your edits. It's less time consuming to use either of those programs and upload a completed file once than it is to add entries using the site software.

Nevermind
It's this weird 7150 truck GPS again. How it displays (or more accurately DOES NOT display) POI files.
If I add POI locations on the fly to my GPS, I can view ALL the locations by selecting "edit".
However, if I download a POI file I may only see a partial listing of the POIs, based upon distance from my current location.
So even though it appears I've only got 36 POI's in the file, I've probably got 60. I tested this by routing to a "POI in a city". A POI that didn't show up under "Edit" will magically appear if it's in the city I am navigating to. WEIRD.
Amazing GPS: I once was lost but now am found.
Thanks

Thank you!
But as I mentioned, I can't find a way to upload a completed file once. Maybe it's because I'm not yet a "maintainer"?

If you are responsible
If you are responsible for a file, then you are a maintainer. You may not be a General Maintainer, but you have responsibility for your files. On the same page where you edit the file, you are given an option to update the file by uploading the new version. That's how you do it. Create the new file "offline" and then upload it. Select the Log tab to document your update.

@vito
Downloaded both the .csv and .ov2 versions of your file.
Both have 60 entries and look OK to me.
I second what Strephon said about editing .csv files. Use a text editor. I would also ask you to consider Notepad++ which you can find at http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.4.5.html
I also strongly urge you to get a copy of Extra POI Editor which was written by one of our own members.
get it using

Configure it using

I find EPE is an easy way to work on OV2 files.
Thank you very much

I really appreciate all the help! I'm new at all this but love to learn and want to become proficient.
I've actually got another unique POI file project in the works, one that will help big rig drivers. Hopefully it will be out by the end of this year.

The GPSr will only show you the closest points in the POI file, not all of them. This is location driven, so the closest will change depending on where you are.
