2014.20 uploaded on servers

I do not by any means wish to start a 20 page long thread about when the 2014.20 maps will be released, but for everyone's information, they have officially been posted on Garmin's servers as of 5 days ago. As we've seen in the past, this could mean that the maps will become available to us within 2 to 7 weeks. They are released when they are released.

Mike - You're going to have to wait! What's the alternative - death? Please... Don't...

Listen now - I'll help you and we'll make it through this terrible time together. You bring the beer, and I'll bring the girls. It'll be fun! Okay - deal?

Update might be available today

I am on hold with Garmin CS right now for an unrelated reason, but they are having you press 1 if your map update does not work, and as I am waiting on hold they keep breaking in with a recorded message saying "If you are receiving an "error with the map update have the unit, connection cord and computer w/internet connection"

Sounds like another piece of sloppy software!

PS Hold times are more outrageous than usual, another sign some map update is a problem.

Storing the New Maps to an SD Card

Don't forget the obligatory instructions on how to get the maps onto an SD card since the maps will be too big for some Garmin devices and some will wonder how it can be accomplished. Links below:

Good links, above. But for many folks, both Garmin Express and GarminMapUpdater will auto-install the full map that a device is entitled to receive to a SD card if there is insufficient internal storage on the device:

https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?...

This will be easier than manually trying to install the map to SD.

Note: a large number of folks here will suggest using GarminMapUpdater rather than Garmin Express, assuming that GarminMapUpdater will continue to work on this next map update:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/40555

PS--this thread is well into its 2nd page. That means we're about 10% of the way towards the map update being available twisted

Im thinking next month for sure.

I'm betting the house on Sept 1.

burning the midnight oil to get the map update out quickly

If Garmin is monitoring this thread you can bet your tally-whacker they're burning the midnight oil to get the map update out quickly. I just hope they add some of the streets, roads and highways that were built as recently as 5 years ago.

Yeah I reported some of the roads near me years ago, and they have yet to show up. She gets pissed at me when I drive through the "fields".

Good to know. The current

Good to know. The current map corrected an error I reported a couple years ago. So always looking forward to the latest map.

Stranger still is the 18

Stranger still is the 18 months it took for Garmin to add the POI for the Police in my local town. I thought that was way too long for something so important...

... on my 660. Once loaded onto the SD card however, I just wish the maps loaded faster into the 660 when powering it up. Much slower load (read) time than when the maps were loaded into internal memory.

That's good news. I was hoping that the op had an isolated problem. Don't remember any threads on Win 7 problems.
