2497LMT

My son is in the market for a GPS but doesn't want to break the bank on one. I haven't kept up with all of the latest models but the 2497LMT looks like it might do the job. I have an 855 and thought he would like the voice command. Any of you guys have one and how do you like it?

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

I have a 2597 mounted to my motorcycle and love it. The one thing I was worried about turned out to be a non-issue, direct sunlight on the screen.

I have not used this model but looks pretty good. It seems to be 2013 model. I have 3597 which is also 2013 model. I would recommend you 2497. The only thing is that it is not 5 inch screen. If your son does not care about the screen size, then go ahead.

I have the 2595 and love the 5" screen. Would go with the 5 inch again

Did you purchase the 2497LMT? I am thinking about getting this model.

I and several others have had routing issues with the 2597. Quite often it does not take the fastest route. Not sure if all models in this series would have the same problems. You might want to do a search on this.

Why not take a look at the Nuvi 2555LMT on Amazon?

5" screen; Is that a blow out price or what?
(Picked one up as an extra for the family last week).

2495 LMT

If you don't need the 5" screen, the 2495LMT is even a better bargain by a few dollars.

The voice command is a terrific function. I haven't punched in a single address since I figured out how to talk the gadget

I do like the voice command function. However there have been quite a few times where I find myself yelling since it doesn't want to recognize what I am speaking...lol

Voice Command

I agree. But just like using SIRI on the iPhone ,you have to get the pronunciation just about perfect. But they both work 85% of the time.

It is very similar to the 2597 which I have except for the screen size. As several other mentioned, the voice command is nice, and the smaller screen means it takes up less space on the windshield.

Other than the occasional spontaneous reboot and the erroneous routing (longer way around, etc.), it's been a workhorse for me.

Voice command is nice, if it

Voice command is nice, if it can understand you. smile After 15 years as an immigrant I am being forced to change the way I say some things to try to be understood by Siri on my iPhone. As the Borg's used to say, "you will be assimilated".

Even attempts to say things differently don't always work - but I get some hilarious stuff back from Siri, especially when I feel bored and decide to try a few things just to see what I will get back. One day I asked her to help me find a way get to sleep - she came right back with "have you tried counting electronic sheep?"

2557 ?

If you can do without the voice command and Bluetooth, the 5" 2557 is on sale today only (7/28/14) on Amazon for $120.

I have a 2557LMT and am very pleased with it. It's the best Nuvi I have had.
