basecamp

What does this software do?

Still Has Tragic Flaw

There is a serious flaw with the interface between BaseCamp and GPS devices, in that a route, when touched by BaseCamp, the route is no longer editable or reversible on the GPS device.

If a route that ends up on the GPS is either or both created and/or edited by BaseCamp, then that route once on the GPS is not editable or reversible.

This is totally unacceptable and defies the very purpose of BaseCamp. I need to reverse routes, and my routes contain many waypoints and I often want to change the route by adding, removing, rearranging the waypoints, and none of that is possible due to BaseCamp. In order to maintain the ability to edit and reversibility, all routes must be created and maintained exclusively on the GPS device, never being touched by BaseCamp.

This problem has been around for well over a year now.

Some Improvement

BaseCamp does not hang up and go into spinning-color-wheel-lala-land when a backup (such as Time Machine) is invoked. This is a major improvement.

Also, this version is also in the Apple Store, meaning it was vetted and approved to avoid such problems.

Revision

Interesting that the Rev went from 4.1.2 to 4.2.1

Problem with v4.3.1

After updating to v4.3.1 Basecamp will corrupt its database upon quitting the application. I found this out the next time I launched BC. I recovered the database using Time Machine and everything seemed to work, until again quitting and re-launching BC I got the corrupted database message. Finally I reverted to v4.2.4 using Time Machine and now have no problems. Has anyone else observed this problem?

Not Seeing The Corruption

No, but will be on the look out.
