Do you recommend your 2597? 3597? 2460?

About to buy my first gps. You have talked me out of the 3590. Now considering the 2597, 3597, or 2460. Thoughts? Thanks for your input.

2460

Although a discontinued model even when I bought mine, the 2460 is quite nice. I think I got the 2460LMT for $100 although the best I can see today is around $140.

Prefer the 3597

I've used a 265 and 3490. When navigating both units seemed to break the trip into segments (very annoying. For example, driving through the Atlanta I75/85 connector would display 3 points it was navigating to before the final destination. The 3597 is seemless and the route calculating speed is much faster. Traffic on the 3597 is better with more verbal communication than the 3490 and HD Weather is a bonus.

I have had my 2597 for a couple weeks now, not sure if I like the real direction voice just yet seems strange to here "go to the end of the street and turn left" instead of the normal in .2 miles turn left. also it no longer says recalculating when you go off route. I used that to let me know I had missed a turn. I bought it for the blue tooth and voice command features my 1450 doesn't have. all in all though I like it so far just getting used to it still.

I recommend he 2460. I have it and it has been an exceptional gpsr. Everything I want and never fails me. Great value for a 5" screen.

2460 +++

Another thumbs-up for the 2460(LMT). It does what I want, and has a larger screen which is good for my aging eyes. Don't need much larger (yet), and don't need other bells and whistles. Don't use the Bluetooth features, as my phone talks Bluetooth directly to the car.

Yeah, it's obsolete, but the GPS birds it's listening to are a few years older -- and they work together just fine. When we have enough of the newer GPS birds operational, and a new generation of receivers which support the new frequencies (2 - 3 years) it will be time to upgrade again.

I like my 2460 after a couple of years ...

smile The original reason I chose the 2460 was, at least at that time, it had a larger screen that the other choices. Don't know if that's still true or not.

2597

Had to return the first one..touchscreen was all screwed up.update didnt help nor did the screen calibration. received the replacement today so will see if that developes trouble. Other than that I like the model.

I certainly not recommend anything less ...

... than a 5" screen. Not with the amount of data available on the current Nuvis + POIs which I'm sure you will eventually want. wink

Nuvi 3597

I love my nuvi 3597 so far. It's a really nice upgrade to the nuvi 750 I used to have. The screen is great and it's fast to calculate routes. The voice commands are kind of hit or miss so far. Though I have received numerous compliments on it when other friends/family are in the car, asking, "wow is that a cell phone? The screen looks too nice for a GPS." wink

The biggest downside I feel is it's expensive price.

So far so good with my 3597

Purchased this unit two months ago and although I can't say it worked flawlessly, it was still way beyond my expectations. The only little annoyances I've had so far are with the voice commands and minor issues reading when wearing polarized sunglasses. Other than that, great unit.

Recommend 3597

I keep upgrading as I can and have had lots of units. The 3597 hands down is the BEST unit Garmin has ever made, and a real wow in the way it works. With just a few minor changes this thing would be perfect. Buy the 3597LMTHD and you will not be sorry.

I also bought 3597lmthd. I am very pleased with it. The map display is amazing. I love this unit.

2460LMT - Good Choice

I can also recommend he 2460. I own this model and it has been a great performer. The 5" screen is very helpful.

Another Thumbs up for 2460LMT

Still loving my 2460 after two years. Love the bigger display and the fact I can talk to it and it usually does what I tell it. Was recommending it to a friend the other day, told him the one thing that would make me upgrade is the ability to customize the voice commands. Would love to be able to tell it to stifle to mute.

Since it is basically an obsolete model they are having some great sale prices if you shop around.

The 2460 was my second Garmin purchase. I typically mute the voice directions and just watch the purple line for directions. Voice command got annoying because my wife's conversation would trigger it to come on, so that stays disabled unless I am alone. I like Bluetooth for hands free phone operation and being able to call a destination in advance when a phone number is included.
One thing it is missing that my 255W had: the branded icons on the map when zoomed in. It was great to be able to see what was close by on the map instead of scrolling thru points of interest on the Where To screen.

3597

Another recommendation for the 3597LMTHD.

As

As you can see from my "signature" below, I have a few Nuvi's. The 3597 is by far the best one I've ever owned.

2597 LMT here

Love my 2597 LMT. Just couldn't justify the extra $100 for the 3597 LMT, and couldn't really find a big enough difference on a side by side comparison, so went 2597. Other than fighting basecamp to find an address that I was just able to manually zoom down to and pick, it's been flawless.

If I had to do it all over again, I would still get the 2597.

Did you try the multi-touch, glass screen. That and the 3D terrain,3D buildings and landmarks did it for me.

3597

I just returned from Europe, using a two year old European map card in my new 3597, and it is the best GPS I have ever had. No more "Recalulating" is a joy.
I kept it in mph and it gave me the correct speeds of the highways there. I highly recommend this unit. I am home in the states now and I can find my routes that I drove in Europe that are saved on the 3597.

2597

The best I have had since a Lowrance unit.

Got one 2597LMTHD from The GPS Store, $250.

All the nice additional features t923347 listed + the Digital HD traffic at a price similar to the 2597LMT.

Nuvi2597 and Bluetooth text receiving

Has anyone here been able to receive and send Text messages by voice from a HTC One M7 phone through Garmin Nuvi 2597 My old windows phone did this but this HTC is paired to my Garmin and I receive and make calls but not texts.
There is supposed to be something. In Bluetooth advance settings.
(Under Bluetooth -> Advanced, are two options, FTP Server and Message access.) I can not find that setting in my HTC One M7 at all.
Any ideas please. I would really like to be able to send and receive Texts while I am driving. Kids are always texting me. Thank you
