RLC

When I get an alert for RLC where I know it is a RLC located in that location, my GPS show that it is a Speed Alert Camera instead of RLC alert.

I assume that you set "manual" mode of POI Loader using "Feet and MPH" to 2500 feet when you loaded the RLC file from here.

What are you using to check such that the result is ".3"?

Speed Camera Alert?

Your profile shows you are from Texas.
The current POI Factory Speed Camera files show only ONE speed camera in the entire state.
It's at I-30 Frontage & North Cockrell Hill in the Dallas area. Very unlikely that this is the one you're referring to.

By chance do you also have the Garmin Cyclops Safety Camera POI loaded on your Nuvi?

How can I find out if Garmin Cyclops is loaded on my GPS. This happens every time I get close to a RLC. Yes I live in Central Texas, several hundred miles from Ft Worth.

I use the manual version when loading, I set my RLC to 625 feet, which is about one city block in Philly, PA. When the POI alerts on the Garmin 2460 the pop up tells you in tenths of a mile, not feet, how far you are from the POI. That would be my guess.

RLC

Found out what my problem was. I was using less than a mile on the feet.

Thanks for the info. My 765 does not give a distance. I had assumed that it must be in miles but did not know what rthibodaux had "checked".

you're welcome

It was just a guess based on my 2460. For my I-95 RADAR trap areas POI I have the manual setting at 4000 feet and when I approach the area it counts down tenths of a mile starting at around .8 until you are at the POI and it shows .0 in the popup, if memory serves.

Cyclops Location

Some of the Nuvis come loaded with a Cylops Safety Camera trial file. The POI will not be updated unless you pay and subscribe. The one installed will continue to work (no timer limit) but not update.

Check your POI Folder and it should say something like CyclopsSample.GPI.

My 2460 came with it named USCanadaCyclopsSample.gpi.
I have it backed up but deleted it from the GPS, I only use the POI Factory ones.

Try A Search

rthibodaux wrote:

Try doing a search is Windows Explorer on your Nuvi drive using .gpi as a key word.
If nothing appears for cyclops then your unit does not have it.

I just checked the latest RedLight camera file 6-26-13, all Redlight Camera locations are marked as RLC and not SPEED so the file is correct.

If no Cyclops .gpi file, then I have no idea what would be causing your unit to display the Redlight Camera as a Speed Camera. Perhaps somebody else has a better suggestion to offer.

Perhaps the file name has a number?

Thanks, I forgot about that (another senior moment), you probably nailed it.

OK. I do not have a Cyclop file. So I tried to delete the Speed Camera File and it also delete some files in my Category. (restaurant, lodge, etc) Down loaded the Speed files and I got the files back in the Category that was deleted when I deleted the Speed File.

One of the downsides of grouping folders and files to create categories is that the .gpi file that is created can not be selectively acted upon to delete parts of it. POI Loader will offer to delete all .gpi file but that would be no help.

You make some decisions when creating categories - and one of them is that you must update everything in that category if you do anything to any of the members of that category.

What About The Redlight Camera File?

Did you make sure the Redlight Camera POI file did not have a number in the name?

So does the Redlight POI work properly now?

Why not temporaily rename the Speed Camera File to show extension of .oldgpi, then test the Redlight Camera location that displays it as Speed Camera and see if display properly now. If it does, then name the Speed Camera back to .gpi and run the test again to see if the Speed Fil.gpi is causing this error.
Highly unlikely though since Texas only has 1 speed camera.

RLC

Here is what I did. Finally deteted the Speed Camera. Re-downloaded the RLC Poi. (had 2 rlc file) deleted one. I took it out for a test drive. Work great at the first Red Light. It was a cross street. Now, the second location (this was a head-on camera) gave me the ding with the dot.Is it suppose to give me the location at the top of the screen like it did at the first light.
